Nice, I've looked for that in the past. So I hope these tires last! Just bought two new ones for up front,or I'd give them a chance.

I'd be interested in hearing how you like the Ironman tires and how they wear.
2 New LT 235/85R16 Ironman Radial A/P Tires 235 85 16 R16 2358516 85R 10 Ply E https://www.ebay.com/i/182239793939 So I've got about 500 or so miles on the new steers. I've been running around with the front windows down and the radio off (as long as it's nice out). Maybe it's just me, but I'm gonna say I front think these tire are noisy at all. Maybe once I get the rears mounted I'll hear more but so far I can barely hear any new tire whine. |

Better late than never...right? Here's a non video of the sound my trucks make at key on.
And here is where they seem to emanate from. This apparatus sits in front of the driver's side tire on the back side of the grill below the battery. It has what looks like brake lines passing through it. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...639fd0379.jpeg |
That's your abs pump and controller.
|
That's the feed pellets being dropped into the hamsters' wheel, LOL
|
Nice to know where it is, never seen that before. Worked on my truck many times in that area.
|
Thank you for the video! That sound was a constant source of mystery to me. Mine is more of a short moo as mentioned above, but maybe just because I'm listening from the driver seat and it's muffled.
So what the heck is it doing? Cycling the valves as a self test? It happens sporadically on mine. |
Thanks for posting the video thats exactly the noise emmited, great find on the ABS pump now the question is why doea it do this strange noise?
|
Finally got to watch/listen to the video. That's exactly the growl I was talking about when I started this thread.
So if it's the abs pump is it a sign that it needs some attention? Never had any other vehicles do that. |
Mover over, Sous, my video gets rave reviews. :-drink
My DD does it too but it's nowhere near as loud and I didn't even notice it until I heard it on the parts truck and went investigating. They both sound a little different and the DD's is nowhere near as loud. Also, that one in the plow truck looks like it's new(er) so it could be an aftermarket part. |

Doesn't sound like a growl to me, more like a groan that translates into "oh man, here we go again..." I don't have one of those on my 2000, but I would guess it is fluid being pushed through the pump or ABS system. Maybe the noise is due to moisture or something? |
