Upgraded to the bigboys

Just returned from a 48 state, Mexico, and Canada trip that we did in my wife's Jeep Patriot. Lots of camping, parking lots, and hotels. Loved it and can't wait to hit the road again. With that being said we knew we wanted to spend more time boondocking and dirt-bagging and my F150 SuperCrew was a touch too small in the bed and with what needed to be done to it plus what I could sell it for, upgrading made sense.

Welcome home,

2001 F250 SD CC 4x4 V10 w/132000 AND Century T-Class Cap.

We'll be outfitting the back with a sleeping platform, drawers underneath, 10 gal fresh water, and 100W solar. We'll be back on the road next weekend for a quick camping trip on some state land in WV. Hope I don't hear banjos.

I do want to get rid of those aggressive tires for something a bit quieter and more highway friendly. Any suggestion? No heavy duty off roading is planned, just dirt roads.

The BFG All Terrains would be a nice fit. Is it just the noise that makes you want to get rid of the current tires? They are Goodyear Duratracs, I have had three sets so far and absolutely love them. They have a little noise to them but they are great in the snow, and everything I have thrown at them. I have heard a lot of the guys like the Goodyear Silent Armour tires as well.

Nice looking truck.

Congrats on the new truck:-X22
The Goodyear Silent Armor used to be the go to tire for what you are looking for. I had run them on previous SD's and been pleased. But for some reason they just don't offer hardly any sizes anymore. The tire that many have turned to is the Michelin Defender LTX. In fact I just put a new set on my F250 last week.

Toyo Open Country All Terrain/2. Hands down one of the best All Terrains I have ever used and are nice and quiet like road tires, but provide excellent traction in all types of weather.

I ran a set of Michelin MS2's and they were very quiet and smooth. They did decent off road and were surprisingly good in the snow. Just stay away from any kind of mud!

Congrats on new truck!

The Duratracs that you have are actually a very good AT, but they get loud as they wear down.

If you're going to be driving in all conditions look at the Cooper AT/W they are Cooper's year round snow tire. I run them on my 2wd Dually, they are incredible! 50K warranty, quiet and you run them year round. We got caught in a Spring snow storm going over Vail Pass on our way to Moab hauling my Jeep and trailer. I thought I'd have to throw chains on the rear, but between the tires and the Detroit tru trac I just put in, I marched right along. Everyone else was in 4wd...very impressive!

I've been happy with my Cooper ATPs, they are quiet yet have more bite than a highway tread. They've also worn extremely well compared to all the mud tires I've run over the years.

Nice looking truck!

I'd look into the front cross support of you bed. Judging by the body line between cab and bed, you have some rust under there that will need dealt with.

I have General Grabber AT2s on my F250 and I like them, but they still make some noise. I have Pro-Comp A/T sports on my Ranger. They wear really well and seem fairly quiet. Not as good in the snow as the General's though.
