Engine build/rebuild/

I have a question regarding my 2015 F250 XL super duty 6.7 L diesel... my question is, if its possible to buy a 2017 6.7 L diesel and install it in my 2015 I know the motor mounts are different but I'm trying to see if that motor can bolt into my engine bay and be able to be wired up with my wire harness the motor was diagnosed blown today on my birthday nonetheless and I'm in a really bad situation if anybody could help me I would be much obliged thank you

Welcome to FTE...

You should look into used or re manufactured engines. Should be plenty available and probably less than $7 or 8,000.

Welcome, and curious to how this engine suffered such an untimely death.

And how it's not a warranty job? Also not sure what's to gain by swapping to a 17 block instead of a 15/16.

I would shy away from stuffing the '17 into your '15. There are a ton of electronic differences. Recommend ruschejj's suggestion - grab a rebuilt '15. I'm also curious how your 6.7 was wasted.

First off Welcome to The Forum and after previously owning a 2016 I would rather find a rebuilt 15 or 16 motor . my new 2017 is a dog compared to my 16 , I'm at about 13,000 miles on it and I'm considering dumping it out it's a total letdown on performance and the fuel mileage is ridiculous can't pull trailer sounds like its stalling and mpg are 13 at best my other truck was stupendous at 21 MPG which started more than a few arguments on this site after owning this truck I see why people didn't believe me this thing is a total dog find a 15 or 16 you'll be much happier take care

I too am wondering why this is not a warranty claim. Motor is covered completely for 5 years 100K miles, plus you have bumper to bumper for 36/36 and then there is the powertrain warranty as well.

Warranty is determine by the part that caused the failure. So what was it?

Will the op return or was this a one and done posting...?

Probably for the simple fact that it's over 100,000 miles and the motor blew we'll have to wait and get more information that's what I'm betting if my 16 didn't turn its bottom end out I would easily be over a hundred thousand by now. However I wouldn't own the truck after the warranty. They're way too expensive to fix take care

Welcome to the club...how many miles and what happened? If not covered, what about a 2nd gen (15-16), if I'm correct in saying so, rebuilt short block?
