I live on a 4000 acre cattle ranch and horse operation 5 miles from the nearest town. I say this to paint a picture of just how "country" I live. I wave at anyone and everyone in our dirt road and main road and rarely get a wave back. It's pretty sad. I'm actually surprised when I do.

Went down to Phoenix Az. mid June and returned mid July. Good God how does anybody live there, HOT HOT HOT, then more HOT. I was sweating bullets by 6:00 AM just walking around. Lived there for almost 30 years, but how soon you forget. Learned real quick to start drinking lots of water in the morning instead of coffee.
we have been averaging ~106 most days here. don't know how we survived growing up without AC in the house or car. still have the morning cup of joe, but it is always ICED now.... |
The wave
The wave is a very real thing between us corvette drivers of all years, probably 80% either returned or initiated by the other drivers.
Around here dirt road wave's are all most mandatory, if you don't wave you may get stopped by them blocking the road cause you are either lost or obviously don't belong here and may be up to no good |

Well, maybe I am copy catting, but I think our forum is the only one without a BS thread. I wanna come in here and kick around stuff that has nothing to do with anything, but we don't have a thread for that...like the OBS and 6.0 and 6.7 guys....so I figured I would start one. Hope you guys are down with it.
:oval Soooo, us folks with 7.3 Excursions are EXcluded? :-huh |

I get the wave a lot. Used to be only when I drove my wrangler, almost like other jeep drivers felt a compulsion to wave. Now I get it in the SD. Of course it could also be because of the small town in Northern California. Pretty friendly people up here.
Off that topic, I love when another car tries to get around me when we're talking off from light, as though my old diesel is going to slow them down and I give her some throttle. The looks are priceless. |

Unfortunately around here, if I waved at every super duty I saw, my arm would get tired quick and everyone would think I was special. There are so many super duties in the Napa valley. Many 7.3's still roaming around here too.

I was raised in a small town. I was close to 30 when I realized most drivers do not wave, or wave back when towns are larger (Southeast experience).
|
90% of the time I'm on the road I wave at most people.
The other 10% is when I'm in the company vehicle and reserve waves for fellow employees. |
