Phenolic spacer for a 1977 F150, 460 with the Motorcraft 4350
 

Okay, I've read a lot of posts on here, through the search function. There's not a lot of love for the Motorcraft 4350 that was used on these 460's in the mid 70's. I have already had the carb rebuilt and before this truck was parked, it ran just fine with this carb. The man that owned it and rebuilt this carb for me is a master mechanic and wouldn't have ran it if it didn't work for him. My dad decided to give me this truck and we were all set to get it running this weekend. To make a long story short, the phenolic spacer has one of the four corners broken off and there's a pretty good crack on one side as well. Does anyone know where I could source one of these? I can usually track down anything on the internet but there doesn't seem to be any of these available. Mine doesn't have the EGR connection on the front, it's just the solid piece of plastic. My last resort may be to source one from a 3D printer.

Down the road, I'll look into an adapter and carb. Just trying to get it road-worthy right now. Thanks.

The spacer is FORD OEM. Try to get Number Dummy to run it and possibly find one NOS.

If you have a chance can you post a photo of the intake carb base and EGR spacer? I am curious as I have never seen the setup.

Alternatively if you are unable to source the spacer you can stack 3 or 4 of the thick gaskets in its place. They are available from rock auto for like $5 each.

You are lucky to have one of the few 4350's that actually works properly many were just one step short of non functional with fundamental engineering/build/casting issues right from the factory.

Hey Keymaster, I had a look in my shed. I came up with a spacer D5TE-9C477-AA. It's not at all like in your picture but it is a 4 bbl spacer. Between bolt holes it's 5 5/8" x 5 3/16" and the 4 carb holes are all the same size. It's about 1/4" thick. I also have the same style of spacer in a hard plastic material, no id number and it's 1/2" thick. I have no idea if they will work. Maybe someone more knowledgable will pitch in.

No part numbers marked on parts after 1956, just casting or ID engineering numbers, when applicable.

This is not a not a spacer, it's the thick gasket used between the carburetor and the 9A589 spacer plate.

There are two types of gaskets: 9D477 thick gasket between the carb and spacer plate (9A589). 9447 thin gasket between the spacer plate (9A589) and intake manifold.

And, D5TE-9C477-AA is not a part number, it's the ID engineering number marked on the gasket.

I cannot cross this ID number to a part number, either because the number you posted is incorrect, or Ford replaced the part number and the ID number with different numbers.

Thanks NumberDummy. I am not too sure about which part is which. The number D5TE-9C477-AA is stamped right on the gasket, and it's about 1/4" thick. It actually looks like 2 gaskets glued together. I have no idea if they will work for the OP but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents!

Thanks NumberDummy. Yes, I have the thick gasket that goes between the carb and the spacer. That came with the rebuild kit that I bought for it.

Are you saying the two locations, in Texas and Kansas, are showing them having the spacer?

Unless I'm missing something. The spacer in the pic is from eBay and was sold in September of 2016.

Again if you can not source a spacer you can stack the thick gaskets it likely will be way cheaper and has better heat insulation to boot. See above post and link ya it does not look pretty but it is functional. I've had to do this on occasion when certain spacers were unobtainable.
