1956 Ford save from going to scrap or let it go?

I know I shouldnt even ask here, but ive been so good not dragging anything, ok as much stuff home lately. 56 f600 dump truck. Very rusty but drip edge looks decent. Parts truck or part out whats salvagable? I'm usually dealing in 48to 52 so not as familiar with 56.
what parts on this thing might be something worth saving. Body panels pretty gone.
its going to scrap next week if I dont take it, it be a bill fifty which I imagine is less than scrap.

Also a 68 f100 360 w/C6 for a bill.
Hmmm

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...04571fb146.jpgIts got 3 22.5 tubeless 6 lug wheels on it as well.
Premium quality used running board...

Maybe someone needs the top half of a cab?

Don't scrap it. A lot of parts look real good to us Rust Belters back east.

The doors look good from here. Remember 56 doors were a one year only door. Driver's side especially could bring some money. The hood looks good. The fenders look good but they would not fit F100s.

Door bottoms are rusted. Drivers side not as bad as passenger. Hood is rusted out also.

I see teh rust out on the passenger door now that I am on my desktop with the bigger monitor. Drivers side looks good. They do make door bottom panels to replace rusted out door bottoms.

Well, you know how it goes, If you save it and try to sell the good parts no one will want to pay a decent price for them, If you let it go you will hear about how you would have made a small fortune on it.... If it was a couple miles from me I would buy it for $150 and the 68 for $100 but if there's distance involved then I'd pass.

Love the pic comment "Ran when last running" ! I would hope so.

I know I would save all the sheet metal on it and those front fenders are not being reproduced..

Usually see much cleaner stuff up your way, were these in the salt mines?!

If the '68 has a 3.50 9", in decent condition, the axle is worth saving. Engine and trans, meh....

Lots of little bits on the '56 worth grabbing, plus the cab brow, but do you want to go to all the trouble? Dennis C. is making new steel brows now. You would likely come out ahead just on scrap, but how much is your time worth? Will the seller let you take just what you want, not the whole thing?

Cab and everything in it and the hood will work with an F100 as well.

Front glass is good shape? They're pretty expensive to replace.
Windscreen trim, custom cab trim, interior light, dash gauges and trim, grille, windscreen wipers, all worth parting. If the back glass is good that be worth taking too (I've got a cracked one and I like the idea of a good one from a '56 F600 going in it, verse brand new) Steering box if I recall has a little better ratio and are sometimes sought after.

The axles/wheels I've seen a demand for, but not a lot, good for replacing widow-makers or building a strong rear end in a rat-rod.

Front bumper and fenders would be worth something to someone. I needed a second F600 bumper in my build and if the fenders where a little better I'd be looking to buy them. Running boards are unique but those are at the stage it's not worth the effort to fix, least the passenger.

If it was me I'd probably take off the parts I listed. If I had the time/energy/place for it I would take the cab off and sell/give it away so it didn't see the scrap yard.

The frame and dump bed... not too many people will be interested in them.

You could easily get your money back on one of the many parts I listed, but that of course is time and effort. Or buy the whole thing and take it out here to the PNW where it would sell for like $1500... lol.

Where is it located? I'd be a player if it isn't too far

jmadsen 08-12-2017 11:12 PM

Thanks guys for the input and comments. Its just up the road from me. And he even offered to haul it down to me on his deck over equipment trailer.
ive got a place to put it until I figure out what to do with it. I just hate to see it go straight to scrap even if I am short on time lately.
it was supposedly just used in the farm and an original owner truck, seems like alot of rust to me for a farm truck too?

Are the outside mirror parts in decent shape? Those can get difficult to find.

abe 08-13-2017 12:21 PM

So the general consensus from us enablers is to buy it for $150. The sale of those two doors will be more than that, back east anyways.

Upon closer inspection the drivers side running board looks good.

If I was You, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it for a reasonable price and tear it apart, selling the parts. A rebuild would be very costly, probably too expensive. So if You have the place to store the parts and the patience
to sell the things - go for it and do it! But of course the price shouldn't be too high.

One of my dad's friends wished a '49 F-4 on me that was crusher bound, but I'm a '56 guy. Let's just tradehttps://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...d3ef49e3ac.jpg
