rewire 55 f100 with EZ wire kit
 

ready to rewire. Cab is mostly bare. Need to drill holes firewall, etc. firewall was filled. hanging brake pedal. debating running wires to back under cab in the frame rails? wire to courtesy light along top in door frame with returns for ground. wires to front lower than original but not hidden as some have done. It looks like it will be real busy under the dash when I mount the 21 circuit mini fuse block. I was thinking of mounting it left of steering column, but have not ruled out a center mount. Also, any downside to mounting it in the engine compartment other than looks? On the one hand, I would like to keep it simple, I am 72 and I would like to keep access easy, but, I would still like it to look fairly clean. Bill in SW MI

I pretty much did the same. Low cab exit, ran along frame front and rear, engine harness low in middle. Very little showing but not extreme. I would say that putting fuse box on right of steering wheel was much easier and will be a lot easier to service.

To start with, we are the same age. I used the same EZ wire kit on my 49. I like a clean firewall also. I mounted the panel to the left of the steering column in the cab and up just out of view. In my case I hid the wires by exiting the cab in the upper corner of the toeboard where the kick panel ends. It drops down from there to the inside of the frame rail. I boxed the frame in the engine bay such that it becomes a conduit for wires going forward. I will say that changing a fuse if required is a hands and knees operation, a bit awkward.

Mine is above the steering wheel. I can get to it, hands and knees, of course, but routing, from there, was easy. I did not, as the instructions say, remove all the lines I do not need, (AC, electric windows, etc.), instead, I saved some and hid them behind the kick panel. Now I still have some line for any expansion.

MIBill please take plenty of pic's. I have an ez wire in it now but it is a mess and a friend of mine that builds this stuff said to get a new one and start from scratch. I will find a pic and show you all. In the mean time I will follow this Bill get it done then come do mine wiring for some reason scares the hell out of me.

I will be following along also. I am probably going to have to start all over with my truck.

I'm not there yet but had a friend suggest that if you build a small plate, put it on a hinge and mount it to the bottom of your dash you can then let it drop down to work on it and when done pivot it up and out of sight. Seems simple but have not seen anyone do it.
