92 F150 Neutral Safety Delete/Bypass
 

So in Frankentrucks conversion it went from an automatic 4 speed to a 5 speed manual. I read several ways to bypass the neutral safety switch from the automatic but ended up with a missing switch. Along with some of the other conversions necessary (btw.. DO NOT USE THE STARTER FROM THE AUTOMATIC IN THE MANUAL EVEN THOUGH IT WILL BOLT IN)

The simplest way I came up with and this may not be new news to anyone and may not be the right way but it works fine for me. I simply spliced a wire into the bundle from the steering column and ran that to the starter relay. There are some diagrams of what the different wires do and after studying those selected the red wire with a blue stripe as the best option. Below is a pic of the splice. The solid red wire I spliced in simply goes to the starter relay on the passenger fender of the rig.

For those that want to see what the wires do I was happy to find a user on here that had shared this diagram and I added some colored lines to show what is connected when the key is in the start position vs. the run position. The Red arrow is the wire I grabbed to splice into for the starter relay.

Hope this helps someone.. if folks see any major flaws in the logic let me know and will dump this post but it seems to work fine for me at least for now.

My assumption would be that I could run that red wire I spliced down into the clutch safety switch.. If I had one and then it would then not start with the clutch engaged but have not tested one of the switches since I don't have one. For me it is no big deal. When I took drivers ed they actually taught you that when you break down on a railroad track you were supposed to run the vehicle off the tracks with your starter because there was no clutch cut out back in the day.
