Andrew, I have to thank you for pointing me to O'Reilly for the stat housing.
I picked it up on the way home and all I can say is WOW! If this one breaks I should turn in all my wrenches! The stock housing and the Auto Zone one are cast pot metal or alum. This one is cast steel and has some weight to it and the heater hose fitting fits. Thanks again Dave ---- |
I remember when I used to get decent stuff at a local NAPA store (now closed). It's good to know that O'Reilly can still get decent parts. :)

The Car Quest was the old kind of parts store, they would take the time to look things up even in books or call people. The NAPA back up in CT was pretty good, they still had books and older guys that would help find things. It was also where I got my auto paint from so got to know them pretty well between parts & paint. This NAPA, now in a different store down & across the street, does not sell that paint but their sister store a few towns away still does and it is a NAPA also. Dave ---- |

Hope to change that this weekend as it had cooled off a lot. Dave - - - - |
Too hot?
Is it you or Allen, that lives in Georgia? Here, in Missouri, I have been gathering firewood! Lol

Andrew is in GA I am in NC.
We both got hit with hurricane Florence and what was left over from hurricane Michael like 2 weeks later. He may be still "digging" out, some places got hit hard. We lost power for 27 hours with Florence, little rain. Michael, no power lost for us but a lot of rain / flooding it the area. I am luck I am on high ground so flooding is not an issue unless I need to get some place. Up till yesterday we have had temps in the 90's add the rain from the storms and the grass just took off. It takes me 3 hours just on the garden tractor with a 60" deck, and no a zero turn will not get it done any faster when it is mostly straight long runs. Besides I use the tractor for plowing my garden, 15'x30'. I have yet to see a Z turn do that or pull the small trailer full of tree limbs. I can also use it to move my empty car trailer if I need to. http://cars.grantskingdom.com/var/re...Trailer002.jpg Dave ---- |

All jokes aside, we got the old cab stripped and out of the shop. Dollied the donor truck in the shop. Now it's time to start taking her apart and building "FrankenJesse"! Took off the bumper on the frame by grinding the heads off the bolts, but still working on those radiator support bolts. I tried cutting them with a cutting disc, grinding them, but no avail. I have an old cutting torch that was my grandfather's, but not oxygen or acetylene tanks for them. The small bottles are over $300 at my local welding shop. Just don't have that kind of money right now! Going to try and drill them out first before I get out the big guns. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...d00a1aa0a4.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...3e79426b0d.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...90c00388ff.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...a06f28a62d.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...92bde3b0fd.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...d1b7bcfd3f.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...82056eccdb.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...86c2e2ad30.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...8a772c7dbd.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...5c97f15952.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c8624ff9f2.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f8e0ee3197.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...35be257c98.jpg Bumper removed https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c706ad36d1.jpg Bolts from the bumper https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f91d5bac8a.jpg Donor truck in the shop Also, found this carburetor that I am probably going to buy for the truck. Non-feedback carb to work with my dizzy and duraspark. Just have to get the money first! I am broke teacher....:-X16 |
Donor truck
That donor truck looks better than my truck 😒
