8 track success !

Ok so this adventure started with this thread

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ck-player.html

I really wanted to get a decent 8 track player and see if I could install without loosing my mind or ruing the dash of my truck :-X06

So rougeriver got in contact with me and hooked me up with an original Lincoln Quadrasonic and all the information to install :-X22 with his help it was smooth sailing and probably the most hiccup free project ive done on this truck since... .So shout out to David for taking the time and having the patience to deal with me and the 8 track project :-X22:-X22 This FTE member went above and beyond to help a fella out :-drink

I sent the Quadrasonic to Gene in Nebraska and he refurbished and bench tested the unit and shipped it back all for under $100... Try that anywhere else :-X0A6 Here are some pics, wish I had taken more...

Looks good, now to just find some more good old 8 tracks. You should of asked around to see if anyone had a dash bezel ALREADY trimmed for an 8 track...I have a few spares on the shelf that already have that cut out made.

I might as well show off my Quadrasonic 8-track unit also.
Both Jake and I have had a lot of fun installing these.

My rear speakers, the placement copied from another member.
I think both of our installations turned out awesome, and when I listen to mine, it is like time travel.

David :)

Have you gotten into the techniques for restoring magnetic tapes yet?

No sir, but roughriver gave me some info to get started......

"We were flying along, and hit something in the air" - supposedly they composed that when really stoned one night and news of the Wichita State football team crash came on... they were so loaded they did not realize it was real, just thought they had imagined it.

I got rid of 400 8tracks a few months ago for $60 on cl.

Anyway,

You need to google how to refurbish the tapes. There is a foil splice that comes apart and unravels in your player..

EDIT: oh lord, I didnt realize that had been mentioned...
