Report on 2017 and Slide in

Seems everyone reports on how their new truck performed so I figured I would do the same but aim it to the slide in camper guys.
Camper: 2004 Lance 1010. 3400 LBS.
Old truck: 2001 F350 Lariat, LB, SRW, CC, 4x4, V10 with a paxton supercharger (no power problems), 3:73 axle, camper package and air bags. Happy Jack tie down.
New truck:2017 F350, Platinum, LB, DRW, CC, 4x4, 6.7, 3:55, camper package. Torklift
I am in Arizona, lots of 6% grades.
Curvey roads. DRW handles like there is no load. No sway, stable. No comparison.
Dirt / gravel road some ditches etc. The 17, very stable and sure footed.
6% Uphill highway: both performed well. But the 17 never had to downshift.
6% Downhill highway: 01 on the brakes and constantly scrub off speed even when downshifted. 17 put in tow/haul, auto set engine brake, set adaptive cruise and never touch the brake peddle.
Steering: 01 sloppy and wander. 17 like driving my expedition.
My only negative comment is the camper interferes with satellite radio. Oh gosh I lose my signal from outer space.
Basically I was worn out on a long trip with the 01 and the 17 is a joy to drive. And the beer still tastes

great when you get to camp.

Great report. You can move the antenna. Just get a different one and run it.

Good looking rig! I have not had any problems with reception in my truck with SiriusXM. I wonder what the issue is?

Sweet! Having too much fun can be addictive!

Thank you all. I have done some research on the antenna and looks to be very simple to add a new antenna and mount it to the cowl. At least that is what others on the Lance forum have done. I guess its the fiberglass camper. GPS works OK just no Sirius, it fades in and out.

I've been wondering about the radio issue with a slide-in camper. I'm camper shopping right now, for an early springtime purchase. My new F250 satellite radio drops out now on my drive into town, in areas where my old Dodge truck and my Subaru never lost connection. I wonder if its an antenna location issue or maybe the Ford radio doesn't cache/store as much signal data as the other 2 vehicles did. Regardless of the cause, I'm guessing that I'll have to deal with it when a truck camper is covering the antenna.

I have not noticed any difference with SiriusXM with my 2015 and my Northern Lite 9.6.
My 6 month special offer for this year expires in a couple weeks and then I will go back to music on thumb drives till next summer and a new Sirius offer.....

I have a Lance 855s on my 2017 F-350 and I cant get reception on my siriusXM either. I am not going to renew it

eventually I will relocate it. I like my Sirius.

I relocated the antenna in my 2014 F350, just bought a 2017, so I'll have to do the same thing.

In the 2014, the plug was basically on the steering column inside the dashboard panel. The antenna replacement was magnetic, and I attached it to the hood. I ran the wire under the hood and through the driver's side door. Worked well.

I just hope the 2017 is as easy to setup.

My antenna has plenty of clearance between it and the front of our 18' Lance 975.

SiriusXM Radio Antenna Relocation

1 Attachment(s)
I relocated my antenna to the front grill and then to my Ranch Hand Bumper. Took a 8000 mile trip this past summer. While heading north I only got intermittent reception, southbound was rock steady. I’m thinking about raising it up about 4 feet for the next test.
