fuel mileage, shocks, and other goodies.
when i got my 14 F250 3 months ago it had 11 bad spark plugs that filled the cats up with gas and burned them out.
new plugs were put in rite away, but i waited for better weather to do the cats. along with the new cats, i also ordered Bilstein shocks to replace the leaking rancho junk that was on it. a driver outer tie rod end, and sway bar link filled out the needed items. well today was the day to work on it as we had the day off due to rain. the shop mechanic helped me because i am still in a lot of pain from the two broken ribs and broken ankle after getting hit in a parking lot by a drunk driver. shocks took 20 minutes to do all 4. on to the exhaust. passenger side came rite out, but the driver side inside manifold nut decided to fight us. it took 2 hours to get the nut off without destroying the stud. new pipes back on, and said screw to tie rod end and sway bar link, that will be another days journey. end results are before fuel mileage over 1600 miles, 9.1 MPG average. first 121 miles on this tank was 9.3 average MPG, the best i have gotten since buying the truck. after cats and 4 new 02 sensors, the 26 mile test drive increased MPG for this tank to 11.1, almost a 2 mile per gallon increase on the trip meter. so i am thinking the next tank mileage should be somewhere around 12-13 MPG, which will be a very good improvement. |
Now that you have new cats, plugs and O2 sensors I would do a reset by disconnecting the battery to reset everything, it will let the computer start from square one.

i was thinking about that.
but with my luck lately the computer would loose it's memory and turn into a brick. |

well, i spoke too soon. after 38 miles the CEL came back on with DTC 420 and 430.
i am officially lost. both codes are for bad cats or 02 sensors. |
If you have a smart phone or table buy a OBD 2 Bluetooth adaptor and then pay $5 for the Torque app and you will be able to read your O2 sensors real time and see if they are working.

.
reset the computer. . . |
reset as in disconnect battery for 1/2 hour?

Denny but really do not know how to use it other than for clearing codes. |
Go to Realtime Information, click on settings in the lower left hand corner, click on add a display, select display, go down the list until you find what you want.
I would create a display for all the O2 sensors Denny |
ok . o2 sensor volts are the same, vary between .4 and .8 volt.
bank 1 sensor 1 cat temp is 699.6 degrees, same thing for bank 2 sensor 2 coolant temp is 183.2, rpm is 602 |
Do you have the free app or the $ one. You need to send 4.95 to get the full version.
Denny |
i have the paid app
