2018 G2G / Mammoth Cave NP...

So, there was talk in my "Today" thread about next year's offline already. Doug had suggested Mammoth Cave NP a while back and everyone who's heard the idea seems to think it's a good one. So far it's looking like any week in July except the 4th. (Or perhaps the last week in June...) Folks that have shown interest so far are:

1) Rodney
2) Tony
3) Monty
4) Doug
5) Chad
6) Scott
7) Dave
8) Andre

Here's a link to their visitor center's page of nearby campgrounds.

You already know I'm in. Oo.

Which campground?

Karl4Cat 04-18-2017 07:19 AM

We haven't decided yet. There are 4 in that link above that we're considering.

Campground summaries from Rodney's List above:

1. Beech Bend Campground: The campground is right next to a small amusement / waterpark. Would be kinda nice to be next to the waterpark in July, but I looked on Google maps and the campground may as well be a parking lot. Not much in the way of tree cover or shade unless you're parked by the river.

2. Diamond Caverns Golf & Resort: Meh, looks kinda boring.... Limited sites for non-members.

3. Jellystone Park & Resort: If you're bringing the kids, this is the place to be. Playgrounds, Pools, Waterslide, mini-golf, etc. Large sites for the big trailers, plenty of shade, but since it's a Jellystone they charge a premium. I'm a big kid, so this one gets my vote. And who doesn't love Yogi!

4. Rock Cabin Camping: Small campground, only has 6 full-hookup campsites. This one obviously won't work for our group.

I vote for Jellystone too Tony. I think would offer the most to our group. Our kids would love it too...

Don't write me down in ink, I'll talk to the wife tonight. The only issue I see are my three doggies. (2 German Shepherds 1 Australian Cattle Dog)

That's a lot of barks to silence Mike but if you can do it, more power to ya. Lots of guys had dogs in Dells last year and I rarely heard any of them...

2018 We are staying closer to home.......:'(

2019.......Glacier or Yellowstone....?????

Karl4Cat 04-18-2017 08:40 AM

It looks like Jellystone has some decent cabins for the non RV crowd too...
