Tailgate Rot

Have rot in hinge area...I am about to pull rug out and have a look

Can I buy replacement metal for this area?

Yes, any body shop would be able to get you metal to fix that rot.

check the bed and crossmember under the carpet/bed for rot as well

I guess this is a fairly common place for rot
Surprised considering ALL the aftermarket sheetmetal,
But I cant get a 'rear half' of the bed floor
