Pearl paints on a dentside?
 

So I've been trying to decide what to do when I finally get around to painting my new project. I'm thinking two tone white pearl and black pearl with chrome trim. I'm going to basically rebuild the bed due to rust spots. The floor is going to be Bedliner instead of carpet. If I do pearl I want to do a ghost design on the hood as well as the fenders. The idea that brought this on was my highschool senior ring (yeah I'm only 20, so it wasn't too long ago). I had a silver ring with a pearl and a pearl colored ribbon in honor of my mother who passed away in 2013. My older brother used to make his living painting cars and would definitely help me if I bought the paint and explained the idea. What do you guys think? The original color was black

20..... oh my. Things to learn:
1) It's YOUR truck. Whatever makes YOU smile is what is right.
2) If whatever you do in rule #1 makes the truck worth less than you want,
accept that as the price of following #1 without whining.
3) Have fun with your ride.

That being said... sounds interesting. I once wanted to paint a ghost Spitfire fighter on the hood of a Spitfire sports car but did not have the money... if you have the skills and help to do yours, go for it. The only part I would maybe rethink would be the bedliner cab... it's functional but at least to me but that kind of spartan/minimalist interior coat would go poorly with the slick custom paint job. However... see rule #1.

Agreed on the bedliner in the cab.......you didn't say if your truck is a 4x4 but if it is......with that much time and $$$$$ in the paint job........I know I wouldn't be wheeling in it so the bedliner would be pointless

I am playing with the idea of using ( don't laff) 2015 Kia Black Cherry but omitting the metallic and using Gold pearl in the clear coat.

I just kind of like the look of hard floors. The truck is a 2x4 so I'm definitely not going off roading in it. I could also do vinyl floors. I'm reupholstering the bench seat

I understand the appeal of a clean floor that you can wash out. When I was 20ish, I pulled the carpet from my 79, and enjoyed the painted floor.

As I'm older now, I appreciate the noise and temperature mitigation of the carpet over pad.

If you do go with some sort of bedliner material, make sure the cab is completely dry and rust-free, so you aren't hiding/causing damage.

I have no opinion on the external design. Do what makes YOU happy.

Talk to your painter about putting sequence in the paint. On a dark color in my opinion it looks pretty cool! When I had my '70 Bronco I had the top painted blank with sequence thrown in the mix. When the light hits it a certain way the sparkle from the sequence will stand out.

The main body of the Bronco was painted a dark metallic green.

It is your truck... to do with what you want!

For me personally, the appeal of a truck was keeping things simple. A decent job with simple acrylic enamel made me happy.

I you go with vinyl floor covering make sure you seal the floor as the vinyl lock in moisture and lead to floor rust where carpet not so much
