'54 on the block

For anyone curious, here's a nice 1954 in stock condition (more or less) at auction.
1954 Ford F-100 | Bring a Trailer

Nice '54
I have been following this one for a few weeks. Although it is a nice refurbished truck some of the claims to being a prize winner seem over blown. I am no expert but can see a few things that are not right for a judged '54. Is that a truck air cleaner? The tail light brackets are unusual. I am sure Abe would be able to tell if this is an accurate restoration.

Ad says 272 available in 1954 as an option. WRONG!

272 introduced in 1955 Ford Passenger Cars and 1956 trucks.

What the hell does a 'so-called' CCCA (Classic Car Club of America) registered expert have to do with postwar Fords, since none are classics by their standards?

Only post war (1946/48) Continentals are classics.

But Gee, you couldn't build it for the current bid, could you. the truck Looks like a beautiful turn key for someone who is unable to build project truck.

Here's my take. Bill is right about the 272 not an option. Here's my list: carpeting instead of a mat, the seat cover is not even close to a 54 vintage look, stainless hubcaps instead of argent painted caps, wheels in 54 were body color, those step plates on the running boards are not stock, the bedboards should be body color, as mentioned the air cleaner is wrong, the valve covers should be painted argent, the gas cap should be black (now that's getting real picky) and he is missing the radiator elbow pipe. One more, the grille does not look like Sungate Ivory.

That seems like quite a list, but all in all it's a great truck. And I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for dripping oil on my floor!

Abe, you couldn't have that truck. The red would clash with your others.

It's a very nice looking truck. I would have to rip that carpet out though. I think it really hurts the look of the interior.

If it goes at the current price of $17,500, I would say it's a good deal. I will be interested to see what it ends up going for.

Less then 1 hour to go, still at $17,500

Final Bid $18,750

Wow! It's nice but not that nice!

Agreed! For $15K more, my truck could look as good.

Final Bid was $25,000. My own interest in this truck was to see what the auction value might be for a truck that was nicely cleaned up without any major modifications and sort of stock.

Show us a recent pic of your truck so we can help you compare. The last picture I remember seeing it was looking pretty good! I'm sure you've completed more.
