I've had some other people tell that they couldn't access Tempe's rear door removal tutorial at TRS ...so I converted the html page into a PDF file which should now be accessible:

95+ Ranger Rear Door Panel Removal Tutorial

I took my door panels off last week to do the same. BE CAREFUL. I broke one clip on each side. One side actually broke the piece on the panel itself so it's toast. They are a nightmare to get off. Once off, you should remove all the clips still in the door, and reattach them to the panel. That will make the panel easier to pop back on. If I ever need to get to the speakers again, I'm thinking of cutting the panel around the speakers and making my own access hole there. It's ridiculous how Ford designed this thing on the 4-door models.

WX, what did you break, the panel slides up it doesn't have the pins like the old ones did.

Mine had 12 clips. I call them "rivets". They are the push-in type and are a NIGHTMARE to get out. I ended up using pliers and a screwdriver after I noticed blood on my fingers. It's nuts.

Ken00 10-09-2003 12:23 PM

Duh, I missed that you were doing the rear doors.

WXboy 10-09-2003 08:13 PM

Oh, yeah. :) OK, I thought maybe the ones built at the other assembly plant were different or something. I was about to get jealous. ;)

First time to the forum, and everything here looks great I just bought a 99 Ranger XLT 4.0l V6, and I'd like to replace the front and rear factory speakers. The link for the front panel removal is great and a big help, however both the links for Tempe's rear door removal tutorial at TRS and the pdf that rockledge posted are bad. Can anyone repost the pdf or fill me in on how to do this?

The rear doors are insanely hard to remove. Not sure why its necessary to have those plastic rivet things every 6 inches... I guess if you have a panel tool it would make things a little easier. I think i just ended up pulling on the panel near where i could tell a clip was.
