front end shimmy

89 f150 2w drive, 5 spd, 4.9L, reg cab. long box. MY baby, had her since she was brand new!
I had my son & friend replace my front wheel bearings. shortly after that I noticed a "thunk" or "pop" when turning right, then a few days ago I started to feel the front end shimmy. Jacked up truck last night, right front tire can be moved about 1/2 inch in and out by hand, everything seems tight. Removed wheel and tire, brake assembly and hub moves also but none of the tie rods, or linkage wobbles. HELP! What should I check first. Already rechecked outter wheel bearing, it is tight.
What Next?

Check the inner bearings as well.

Crashed13; When he checks the outers and tightens the nut to spec, the inner is loaded at the same time.

Larry Prentice;

Sounds like the bushings at the end of the I-beam may be worn past limits. Also check on the radius arm bushings, and the bushing mounts. The bushing mounts are riveted on and can and do come loose causing the "knock or pop". The Ball joints could also be loose.

Grind or drill out the rivets and replace the radius arm bushings at the same time. Use GRADE 8 bolts, washers and nuts. I use aircraft grade bolts and nuts then safety wire them. But double nutting works just as well.
