i did some measuring and i have questions
so i have a 94 f150 flareside and i am doing a 4x4 swap. i have some questions. does anyone here also have a flareside with a m5r2 transmission and a bw 1356 t case? im questioning my clearance on the truck when i put it in. Also the driveshaft length because i measured the difference in the 2wd and the 4x4 trans with the t case. i got some scary but believable numbers. the 2wd fron front of bellhousing to the end of output shaft was 2' 6" and the 4x4 one with the t case bolted on was 4' 2" and the front gas tank is within inches which is the main issue. i can cut the driveshaft to whatever i need but the front tank is my worries.can someone help me out with some measurements:-down:-down:-down?

I think flaresides are the same wheelbase as regular cab short beds. Finding anyone with a 4x4 regular cab shortbed truck with dual tanks is going to be a challenge. They are very rare, if they even exist at all. Some claim to have seen or even owned them but many people remain skeptical.

My issue is with those measurements there is 20 inches of driveshaft to be cut off. And the distance from the t case to the front tank is ridiculous close like an inch or 2? I'm okay with it but I wanna be sure that it's going to fit. Otherwise I have to change my fuel system also. Or at least the tank. I say flareside because they're common to have the 2 tanks. If not all of them. And the 4x4 I've seen but none in person to measure.

Neither the t-case nor the fuel tank move around much. What are you concerned about?
There were two different size front fuel tanks. You might be able to swap the smaller one in, if you have the larger one. The sizes are 19 and 16.5 gallons. |
That's possible. But It looks like I have room I just want a measurement to double check from an existing system. It looks like I'll have hard time with installation and any future clutch replacements but other than that it looks ok. But like I said it's very close my measurments. Which I've done a few times now.

I don't think getting this done in one day is realistic unless this is something you have done many times before and are familiar with.

It's an easy swap. I have all the parts and dtive shaft will be done waiting for me to put it in. Totally a 1 day job. Just trans/tcase swap not axle also yet.
