Fuel Filler Neck

Is there anything I can do to protect my very rusted fuel filler neck from possibly being punctured by something thrown from the tire?

And why the heck do our trucks not have splash shields in the wheel wells like earlier models do?

if you want to protect that filer neck, I think you probably would need to fab something up.

As far as the wheel well liner goes....might be a option??. If you have a tire go bad going down the road, the tire pretty much grenades the liner anyway. And it just that more debris laying allover the road. Without it is a way to slow the rusting over the wheel well, because it gives road treatments less place to stay and eat away at the underside. I was told it helps hold down costs...I think that they have failed on that one. There are times I would like to see them as well
