Idle Air Control Valve

Idle Air Bypass Control Valve has gone bad and truck has a terrible humming noise when it is at idle (600 -900 rpm)
Dealer wants $80.00 for the part. Anybody know of a place to pick one of these up other than the dealer. Have check AutoZone, NAPA, Advanced and several other parts dealers. Can't find it
It is for a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4
Thanks
Brad

Idle Air Control Valve

Hi Brad and welcome aboard :)

Even if you can find an aftermarket IAC I would still buy the genuine Ford one. In my experience most Ford parts of this nature are better than aftermarket ones.

Idle Air Control Valve

I got one at Autozone for $70. It works, but just doesn't seem quite right sometimes. I would follow Dave's suggestion and spent the extra $10 for the Ford part.

You can try to take the part off and clean it thoroughly with Carburater cleaner. The idea is to clean the carbon buildup from the valve body. My truck woke up one day and decided it didnt want to idle at all. A tow truck later, then delivered to the mechanic, it started and ran normally. He diagnosed it properly as the IACV. He said it is common and the jolting of the tow truck is sometimes enough to loosen the carbon. Once I got it home, upon advice of the mech, I took it off and cleaned it and saved myself 150.00. It worked. 4 years later, it is still working fine, although I think it's time to clean it again. The other morning it would not idle. I used the trick he told me previously, " if it ever does that, tap on the valve with a screw driver. It will loosen up the carbon enough for it to idle. So I know I'll be pulling it again and cleaning it this weekend.

I got one from Auto Zone for 48.00 and it works great.

I can get one from the dealership for $60. A friend of mine works there...

Auto Zone, NAPA or any other should have them, got mine from NAPA for around $40. Just ask for an IAC or Idle Air Control Valve, the Bypass thing is probably confusing the poor parts monkey behind the desk.

Can the IAC Valve can cause the engine to shut off when is running, when is low idling

Idle Air control Valve

that's exactly the symptoms..poor idleing..engine will only idle if you give it gas and if you do not, the engine will die. Try this, find the Valve, just tap on it with thehandle of a screwdriver and see it idle improves. If it does, you know you've got the clean the valve or replace

IAC Valve

I want to konw if with the IAC Valve for gasoline can i use LPG

The problem is that all too often you buy an aftermarket part and it works about as well as the part you are replacing.
