c6 pan bolt, how the ?

So I cant be the only newb thats looking at the bolt on the trans pan that is tucked up under the cross member and wondering how the heck you turn that thing ? Before I do something dumb, is there some kinda trick to it ? Right now im thinking of trying to find a super-short socket set, standard 1/4 drive 1/2 socket is to long. Wrench jaws are too big :-huh What im I missing here ?

I use a 6" or so long 1/4 inch drive extension. With a shallow universal socket. And a lot of cursing.:-arrgh. Hope that helps

Nice

Looks like I may have a good excuse to buy a set of shallow universals.... which will give me some time to put in my new heater blower and fan.... :o

I forgot to mention the extension u use has a ball end. If you have a home depot near you they did have a sale not sure if it is still going on 1/4 drive sockets.

Here is how I fixed mine. After I got that one bolt out that you are talking about I took it and threw it away. I then took a 2" bolt and torqued 2 nuts on the bolt down to the shoulder. I then installed the 2" bolt instead of the original bolt. The nuts tighten up to the pan like the original bolt head did but now it is long enough to clear the crossmember to get a wrench on it easily.

LMAO.........I know that feeling!!!!Where in NV???? I'm SE Idaho and we've been dealing with flooding too.....My shop has flooded 3 times so far.......it's froze up this morning and dried up but I think I've got 1 more round of it when it starts melting on the north side.......sick of winter, snow, ice and slop!!!! Just headed out now to clean up the flood mess in the shop so I can get started on swapping out a trans in an Exploder.....Uggggg

Elko

Im in Elko, and been running two pumps since Thursday, but it finally started drying up today..... But we are hitting 50's again this week, so stay tuned :'(....Shouldn't complain tho, there are hundreds of folks around town that dont have a home to call home anymore, flooded out. Got the trans pan off with a 1/4 drive universal and some ugly finger work...... :oval Gonna make one of those stud nut bolt thingys so I dont have to deal with that little chore ever again.... :-drink new trans filter is in, but im too pooped to deal with cleaning and setting up the gasket for the pan tonight.. Maybe this week sometime :-roll
