Where to get factory muffler and tail pipe 16 6.2
Hey guys,
2016 f350, super cab long bed... I thrashed my factory tail pipe plowing snow. I had to cut it off at the muffler and put a turn down on it. Not a big deal as its basically at the rear axel. The issue that the truck is noticeably louder now. From the dealer, its a muffler tail pipe assembly and its very expensive. I don't want any aftermarket aluminized junk though. Whats my best option for a tail pipe and muffler...pony up the dough? |
I suppose you don't want to claim it on your insurance? Maybe consider that if you put anything other than oem, it might cause issues with your truck warranty. IIRC on the diesel trucks, it specifically states that replacing the tailpipe voids the engine warranty, but I don't know how they consider that modification on the gas trucks.

No sir...deductible is 500...tailpipe and muffler assembly are 780 online shipped. Id prefer an oem piece...but may just end up keeping the turn down on for 800!

Sure, it doesn't make sense to claim it on insurance with a $500 deductible.

There are all kinds of after market stainless kits available. Some that delete one or both resonators, which it sounds like your not interested in, but there are some that are just a muffler and tail pipe. There is a large thread in the 6.2 section just on exhaust. You may also ask in there to see if someone that's done a muffler delete or swapped out their exhaust wants to part with their factory muffler and tail pipe.

Try rockauto.com. Parts are usually 1/2 the price of the dealers.

I replaced my entire 6.2 system with a stainless one from MagnaFlow due to my small resonator rotting away. The part # is 19174. This kit will fit a long bed crew cab, not sure if it works for a long bed super cab.
It was 500 shipped to my door from Amazon! You can see the kit and the replacement work on my build thread... |
