Looks like you have some work to do on those cab frame mounts.

Brian1971f100 03-06-2017 08:07 AM

Thanks fe390pc, and yes the front cab frame mounts are in my mind. I brought on of the upper rubber mounts to work with me today. I think I have some washers that will fit the bill.

Washers to fix the front cab frame mounts. These are 1 5/8" washers. I have some bigger if these are too small.

Well it's another weekend update. I went to work and made up a flange to tie the firewall to the floor. The pieces I bent ahead of time at work. I used the original floor section as a model and bent pieces for both sides. I figured the other side will need to be replaced as well. As usual it takes a lot of time to fit everything. I welded the lower section first the welded in the upper section. After that I started trimming the floor pan. Still have more fitting to do on the floors, The patch panel seemed to fit OK but it was crooked. I had to cut the upper right corner back to straighten it out.

Sizing the upper floor panel and fitting.

I think I need a couple more clamps.:-X04

Second round of fitting the floor. I lucked out when I trimmed the height section I left it long, by the time I got the bent sections pulled down the panel was exactly the right height. I don't like to cut things that close.

In all another productive weekend. Temps outside never got above 20F. I'll be glad to see some more warmer weather again.

You'll get your wish for warmer weather here pretty soon. I'm not looking forward to the summertime weather --just too hot and humid here in the summer. I hope I can get started replacing the floors in my friend's '72 before the weather does turn really hot/humid.

Keep at it. You'll get there.

Thanks Steve, that is my plan. I break the repairs down into tasks. Floor repairs 4/4. I am nearing my 1st 1/4 complete.

Man, nice work Brian!! I see you're going to have to do the same repair I did, at the bottom of the door support pillar.

Brian1971f100 03-06-2017 10:32 AM

Thanks Pat, yeah (said with a sigh) I will get to that after I fix the front cab frame mount. That is another day.:-X18
