92 F150 E brake problem
Hey guys I'm kinda stuck in a pickle as I can't seem to get enough slack out of my E brake system to reattach the intermediate cable. I have all new cables and was wondering why it won't go on. Also I've heard about a recall on some of the E-brake pedal rachet, any advice would be great.

have you tried taking the slack out of the front cable ?
|
How would I go at doing that? The pedal is up and brakes were backed off
|
i dont know if your 92 f150 is the same as my 94 f250, but with the pedal fully released, go under and pull firmly back on the front cable. you will be fighting against spring tension, so you may have to lock it in place with vice grips while you connect the front cable back up with the rear. a guy in a shop showed me this after i scratched my head for days, wondering why my ebrake was always partially applied, no matter what i did.

Can you take a photo cause I'm confused
|
unfortunately, no. nothing but wet slush out there. but if you get underneath your own truck you should be able to see what i am talking about.

Ok back on topic, there's no springs under my truck, just the pedal cable attaching to the intermittent cable which is suppose to attach to the T bracket "equalizer" to the rear cables. Could my pedal part be messed up? It has no spring action to it with cable detached.

sorry if my initial reply was unclear. there are no springs underneath, the springload is in the brake assembly itself. just pull backwards on that front cable as best you can and then attach it to the intermediate cable bracket. (not sure if there is any springload in the pedal assembly itself).
