1997 F800 GCWR
 

I have a customer who currently has his truck registered just for the vehicle. He needs to switch to a combination registration. Location here in Pennsylvania. I don't have any old documents for him. Best I can really offer is to set him up with a truck company to re-certify it, but I don't even have figures to tell him what it should have been new. Anyone know what the max GCWR of such a beast was?

I would decode the VIN and find out what the rear axle could take then depending on that figure out what type of trailer mount it has. Then figure out what the max tongue rating would be for that rear axle/hitch mount set up would be and add the trailer GVWR to the GVWR of the F800.

NOT SAYING THIS IS CORRECT JUST WHAT I WOULD DO TO GET A BALL PARK FOR PAPERWORK. THIS WOULD STILL NEED TO BE VERIFIED BY SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

EX. F800 rear axle rating = 13,000 lbs and GVWR 21,000 lbs
Trailer(combination unit) = Max tongue weight of >13,000 lbs and GVWR 21,000 lbs
GCWR=42,000 lbs

I would also suggest that the trailer has its own set of brakes! (its a must)

Thats how I would do it for registration purposes then figure it out before hauling. Hope this helps.

My 1990 F-800 has a GVW of 33k, a rear axle at 22k, and a 16k hitch. I suppose that would put it at 49k GCWR. The frame rail truck itself weighs in around 11k.

If your trailer hitch is rated at 16k then your trailer GVWR should be 16K. So add all the GVWR's from each unit in the combination to get GCWR.
Your F-800=33K
Trailer(Unit)=16K
GCWR =49K
