Taking bezel off of gauges? 1956 F100
Hi y'all.
I have the classic instruments gauge set that looks like the original. It didn't come with the front bezel, and I thought I could clean my original up a little bit and reuse it. So far...I can't figure out how to get it apart! I think others have taken them apart to get a chrome bezel or to restore the gauge faces. Anyone here that can help me through it if I take some pictures? Thanks! Schuyler |

Finally got the front bezel/surround off of the gauges. Only took 6 months apparently! Ha. Figured I would post my pics for anyone that comes along after me with the same question.
I found it easiest to bend/straighten the tabs you can see on the back top, and the lower front. The front ones were easy, but the top ones were harder. I removed the gauges from the back of the cluster and popped the back off of the assembly, which made things easier. Once that's off, I realized that the previously bent tabs are to remove the assembly/metal plate BEHIND the glass. Once that is removed, you can actually bend the tabs that get the front bezel off that I was after. Maybe it's super easy for smart people...but these pictures would have helped me a lot. |
Thanks for the info. I am going to take mine apart and these pics will help.
