Coolant change - How to?
 

What is the process for removing all coolant and installing new?

I just purchased this motor home and original owner took pretty good care of it.

I want to change out the coolant and want to know the process to remove all coolant and replace with Motorcraft Gold.

I found one engine block drain on driver's side, directly under rear most freeze plug . On passenger side I could not find one. I checked behind the starter under rear most freeze plug and one was not there.

Will all coolant from block drain from the one block drain on driver's side?

Or can I remove lower hose, drain, replace, fill with water and repeat until all coolant is gone?

I don't think your ever going to "drain" 100% of the coolant out without taking the engine apart.

Empty your radiator from the radiator drain plug and then use one of those backflush kits that attaches to one of the heater core hoses and allows you to attach a water hose and flush out all the coolant from the engine block by running water through the engine and out the radiator fill cap. It will get out all the coolant and leave fresh water in which you can then mostly drain and replace with proper coolant/water mix.

If your concerned about the flush kit leaking later, just get an extra heater hose to replace after you flush everything.

I told you how to do it back in June. Not sure why you feel the need to keep posting so many different threads asking the same thing.

Sam, this is my second thread on the subject. You were the only respondent to the June thread. Not sure what is so wrong with re-posting to seek additional input/advice. You sound annoyed by my second post.

Not annoyed, just curious why you even need help with something so rudimentary.

if you have an air compressor or a pressure washer you can also use those. and be sure and flush backwards also, you may think you have it coming out clear water and then reverse your hose position and here comes more old nasty looking grunge.

I would like to know why you are wanting to go through the hassle of removing freeze plugs etc to try and remove coolant?

That is far above and beyond the normal coolant change process. Is there some other reason that your not telling us on why you want to go through all that hassle vs just doing a drain, flush, fill?
