Sea foam

Hello. I'm thinking about trying sea foam in my 6.0L. I called sea foam and the guy said that I should run it in my oil and fuel at the same time or separate, doesn't matter. My question is has anyone out there ever put sea foam through a 6L???

What would be the point? If you have injector stiction there are better snake oils to try, if it's for the fuel there are better lube additives.

I know it's very popular and some people swear that it's ok, but there have been reports of it eating seals when used in the oil, and there are a LOT of seals to replace in a 6.0. Happened to a mod here:

Or just run it without any special additives because good oil and B5 gets you the same result.

I don't buy putting it in oil. If you change your oil regularly, there won't be any sludge for Sea Foam to clean out anyways.

I do like to run a bottle through my gas engines every 3-6 months or so as my injectors start getting gunk built up on them. I really can notice a difference when the injectors and carbs get cleaned out! I run some in my lawn mower all the time and it starts first pull every time - even after winter. They say it works in diesel engines too, but I've never tried it in a diesel.

That's the kind of stuff I was thinking about. It has been a great product and been around for years, however 6L are very particular in every aspect. I have tried other injector cleaner's and gotten no results. I did however just dump a bottle in the fuel about 30 minutes ago and it seems to be doing better. I was getting a load up like an old school 2 stroke dirt bike. I was mostly just very nervous about putting it in my oil

SeaFoam in your oil/fuel and you will be buying all new injectors and
other things. That stuff will cause all sorts of problems.

I've put in gas engines including my V10. A 6.0 or any diesel definitely no. You need a lubricant more then anything.

I have used Seafoam in my gas powered vehicles when its on sale. Can't really tell any difference. I usually use the Chevron w/Techron. That stuff works! Have had many 4 wheelers, lawn mowers, motorcycles that sit a long time and get gummed up. I mix a can of that in the gas and in just a little while the engine is back to purring again.

Seafoam=placebo.

I have used it and couldn't tell if it did anything.

It looks like most that have used this stuff have used it in something gas.
It is a solvent that will lower your level of lubrication that the engine oil
can provide and also kicks loose all the miles of crud. The 6.0L is run
by a HEUI system. If you start running massive dirty oil through it your
going to have a lot of problems with stiction just as soon as the solvent
is out of the system and the stuff that comes loose will find new places to hide.
Also with the 6.0L you have almost 3 quarts of carry over oil that you can't
drain without disassembly of the HPOP system.

The stuff will give you grief.
