No start. :-(

My truck was idling a little funny then I shut it off. Wouldn't start the next morning. Wondering if anyone knows how to check the ipr without a computer?

Unlpug ICP and should go to default pressure. Can also hot wite it. I don't know the pin out to do so yet but others have done it.

Does your tach move when cranking?
Fuel pressure?
More than 1/4 tank fuel?

robbyriot 08-06-2016 05:50 PM

I have fuel in the filter and the take moves when cranking. Haven't checked actual pressur. I unplugged the sensor I am just waiting for my battery's to charge. My glow plug light also comes on and goes off. I live in Cali so I don't think that would be much of a issue anyways.

did you unplug the ICP or the IPR?
ICP-- goes to default pressure and will start when unplugged
IPR--will not start with it unplugged

I actually think I'm having a weird starter issue its not even turning over anymore. Battery's are good. Gonna throw a starter at it today and go from there

Mine did that a few years ago while I was loading a trailer. Turned out to be the IDM. I hope yours is something simple but just something to keep in mind

Failed IDM can't possibly cause the starter to fail. Cranking circuit is completely independent of the electronics (and vice-versa).

If it was turning over, but no longer, then you've got a new second problem. Either you've pooched the batteries, or pooched the starter, or got a bad connection. Just throwing a starter at it is an expensive way to troubleshoot. Have you tried jumping the starter relay?

robbyriot 08-08-2016 01:49 PM

yeah I watched my cranking voltage and I tried jumping the relay and still got nothing. I'm hoping at this point it's not the engine that's locked up. Something is obviously locked up if I'm lucky it's just the starter

robbyriot 08-08-2016 07:31 PM

Thank you jesus it was a starter.

madpogue 08-08-2016 07:49 PM

Does that mean you got it running? Or just have it cranking again?

I initially misread that and thought it shut itself off. My mistake

robbyriot 08-08-2016 08:08 PM

yeah it's a runner again. It was odd I've never seen a starter that would turn it over but just not start it.
