86 full wiring diagram for diesel

Where can I find a full wiring diagram for a 86 with a diesel. I have found just the engine and I can find the diagram with gas and the ecm. but not one that shows the full with the diesel. Any help would be great.

I have never seen a full diesel truck schematic. The only ones I have looked at were the gas with dotted lines for the diesel differences.

These are also great books but don't contain wiring diagrams per se (although they'll help you with things like the windshield wiper wiring and such).

I have an 86 f350 crew cab dually with the 6.9. as far as I can tell the glow plug system shorted and melted everything from the glow plug controller to the starter relay. as well as melting most of the wires around it. I'm attempting to repair the wiring as close back to factory as I can. most of the wires in the area of the starter relay have been cut. Its a mess. That's why I'm looking for a diagram. the gas ones just don't show the bulk of the wires that I'm dealing with.

I did not do this. the wire tied bundle is what is melted. I just got this truck and its my new project. Task one. Get it started.

That's why I asked.

Yeah, I've never seen a factory (or even aftermarket (but I wouldn't trust it)) wiring diagram devoted exclusively to diesel, either.

The way Ford did it, if it was a configuration that came from the factory, it will be documented in their factory documentation - which documents EVERY POSSIBLE CONFIGURATION all in one diagram.

Take, for example, the START/RUN/CHARGE system - there are different configurations of this dependent on the dash cluster having an ammeter or an idiot light. But it's all in one diagram and you need to pay close attention to figure out which wires you actually have and their configurations.

I'd imagine the diesel stuff would be integrated in with the other fuel delivery system (and probably also the ignition system) wiring.

Here's an example of a Michell's diagram. It's for a 89, but it combines the gas and the diesel together.

Did you see this? I was messing around Gary's site for the first time and ran across this. You shouldn't need much more than this, and it's the early diesel wiring.

Start & Glow Plug Control - Diesel - ???Gary's Garagemahal

I find the full wiring diagrams to be confusing since the wires run everywhere across multiple pages and it is very hard to follow them. The Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals (EVTM) break the wiring down into systems and they are much easier to use. I have the 1986 EVTM on my web site and it does have the diesel wiring: 1986 EVTM - ???Gary's Garagemahal.
