HELP WITH CABS

so ive had a few questions that ive asked on here in regards to my truck and all but one has been properly answered. (no worries i did the math and worked out my own answer -- 2 weeks later--) so here is another as in my project ive come to find my cab is NO BUENO :(

here's the question for you ladies and gents:
my truck is a 1984 f150 regular cab 2wd. after putting in new floor pans and inner rockers i found out that the mice who use to reside in the cab as it sat for 7yrs lived in between the inner and outer panels of the roof.. and they peed.. and now 2 years later i found that it is rusting out from the inside top corners... so to locate a new cab i need to know. WHAT YEARS DOES MY SPECIFIC CAB RUN FROM? its obviously an 84 but did they run the same cab in different body styles? for the record it is worth noting i have new old stock front fenders and good shape doors sitting in the shed. (in case the fender and door style changed but the mounting for it did not.)

reason im asking is because i will get much better search results if i know the exact years the cab was used especially if it runs through different body styles. i really have no interest in a complete donor truck at this time but we will see how that goes.

ALSO!!! i will be making a custom dash for this cab whatever one i use. just need to know if it will bolt to my frame, the doors + fenders will fit and everything will share the same body line

You will want a 1980-1986 cab for a DIRECT interchange(that way you can swap you interior and electric harness over

1979 and older is COMPLETELY different

and 87+ is similar but is different

glory of this Frankenstein project is im stripping the wires and custom running only what i need as i eliminated emissions on the engine, its carb, and manual tranny. so to be clear, what is similar but different for 87+?

If that is the case then you can use 1980-96 f150 cab and 80-97 F250hd/F350
(very minor changes needed to bolt fenders and cowl on. Doors are Directly swappable)

Yes, it will work. But in 93 they were called F-superdutys. The F450 name did not come out till 99

-Yes cab mounting bolts were the same from 80-97
-Door hangers are the same from 80-97
-80-86 bottom fender bolt on with a bolt straight up from the bottom, 87-97 bolt on horizontally, so a little fab there
-The cowl is slightly longer on the 80-86 than the 87-97 so you would just need a small spacer where it screws on by the fender to pull it out a little bit

Thank you Brad, I didn't know they were slightly longer.

I have a 91 cowl to replace my 86 with due to the slots allowing to much debris into the cowl box. Also not sure I want to do it either ... I like the looks of the slots, maybe I'll screen the underside instead.

-Enjoy

The 92 and up cowls will not work with the 91 and older hoods. I swapped a 92 cowl on to my 89 F250 and found out about the hood/ cowl interference the hard way....... So I had to take the 89's cowl back off my 84 F250 and reinstall it.

I think I'll do the screen under the slots like Festus said ,on my 84.
