New to Diesel
 

Alright, so I'm going to go purchase an 07 6.0 powerstroke in a few days, and I'm just curious about what I need to do to keep it running as best as possible. The mileage is 250k+ so any tips or tricks would be good for me. I don't know much about diesel engines at all so I could definitely use some help! Also, eventually I want to add some performance parts to it when I get some more money. What should I do to the truck BEFORE getting parts to ensure it can handle the added power?

You should start with reading the tech folder over and over again to familiarize yourself with the truck and the engine as in where's this or what's that do it will help you understand what you just bought. Then start with the fluids oil,transmission, coolant etc.

Ahh okay, well thank you very much! Any tips for performance parts orbeefing the engine up beforehand?

My truck is still in stock form with the TTY head bolts so I'm not the one to ask about "mods". But some swap injectors and upgrade the turbo to a powermax stage 1 then go with a tuner.
