Uk guy 56 F100 - my first pick up

Hey Chaps,

Recently joined looking for info on bmw reverse flip hood hinge but after wasting 2 days sold mocking it up the throw was too small :'(

anyway, unfortunately my photobucket bombed out a few weeks ago so I lost a lot of pics :-arrgh

I have gone in my own direction with this truck and done a few things maybe not seen before. I come from a vw background and have lots of spare VAG range parts to hand and a fair few have made it onto the truck.

some bits I've done include;

6" widened bed + tailgate
removed box sections from bed
replaced curled bed edge with roll bar tube formed to match cab curve
full integral cage with side steps
audi TT fuel cap in arch (fender)
Audi door handles
mk2 golf door catches and striker pins
mk2 golf modified wiper mech relocated arms to both sweep in same direction with 2 speed + intermittent motor
mk1 golf cross hair headlights
Passat sport seats with touran (routan) bases with under seat storage trays

I have a couple of vids that survived of me testing remote central locking / door handles and tt cap activation

also a few random pics, I will get some pics of the finished article in a few weeks

Looking good fella, can't wait to see the end result! Mine has stalled for a while, as I've moved everything into a small unit, so hopefully progress will resume shortly!

olethalb 07-01-2016 09:18 AM

thanks bud, in the closing weeks now I think of getting it on the road anyway haha.

the colour came out well, thanks again for the tip :-X22

You're welcome, look forward to seeing a pic of it sometime!

olethalb 07-04-2016 02:22 AM

finally after a weekend of trial and error I have a working reverse tilt bonnet, only bits I could use from the bmw was the rollers and the brackets that bolt to the hood :-X04

Bravo, on the progress. You certainly have some strong skills. Eager for more pics.

I like it and in particular I like how you've gone your own way with things. The roll pan looks like a very good job to have done it from scratch and the door handles don't look out of place at all. Can you give more details on the bed widening - did you widen the track some to accommodate? Taking out the box sections is subtle and hat's off there too.

Where did you get the rear lights with the amber flashers? Nice touch.

nassi 07-05-2016 04:49 AM

That looks great, keep up the personalisation. :-drink

olethalb 07-05-2016 05:13 AM

thanks for the kind words - I'm sure it's not everyones cup of tea

the bed sides are joined to the cab now so just moved them out 3" per side and made my own tailgate to suit using the original 'ford' centre. the box sections were no longer needed at the front and the rear were replaced with half a rollcage bar welded to the side.

the rear lights are actually from a lorry, they're called 'hamburger lights' the are stop / tail / turn signals
