Dash Pad

Alright I got the pillar post trim pretty much done now comes the next project a new dash pad, or dash pad cover.I found a new Dash but for 399 i'll use bondo and see how that works. I see the dash pad cover made of plastic that just fits over the old dash, has anyone ever used one? If so how do they work? I'd rather pay 150 then the 400.Thanks for the help, I have had nothing but wonderful help here, and i'm so glad I joined Thanks Fred

You might want to ask Gary Lewis. I believe he has one on his truck, "Rusty".

I have used the covers on two occasions and was satisfied with the result. To be honest though, they provide you with adhesive to put around the outside edge to hold it on. I do not use it and the cover stays fine. If you are examining the fit like a pro, you can tell that it is a cover. Price was my driver as well. I am happy with it.

For Rusty I'm pleased with the Coverlay cover. I glued it on with the pad out of the truck as I'd done one in another truck and it was tough to get it down exactly like I wanted it. So I just laid this one in at first and it squeeked and groaned. So I pulled the pad and glued it on. Problem solved.

But for Dad's truck a cover won't do, so I'll go with a new pad.

I have a cover, too. It came on a '85 4x4 F150 I bought a few yrs ago. I recently switched it to my new-to-me '81 F100. It looks fine, and fits good w/o gluing it down:

Who are you guys going thru for the covers?
I cant remember seeing them in LMC or Carpenter but was also not looking either.

Also I would think it could be painted right?
Thanks

Yes, can be painted, but they do come in 4 colors.

I thought about painting mine, but black goes with anything so content to leave it be.
