1996 f150 4.9 tach install
Hello everybody just need some help I'm not sure where to install the green wire for the tachometer I know it goes into one of the wires for the coil but I'm not sure which if anybody please let me know thank you

It will go onto the ground side of the coil. The colors Ford used changed over the years, so I'm not particular sure what your color is. Easiest way would be to unplug the coil, turn the key on, and check which pin doesn't have 12 volts on it. That's the wire you need to hook into.
Also, you do know the truck is pre-wired for a tach cluster, and you can just take the instrument cluster out, and put the tach module from a tach cluster in, and it will work? |

I'm not saying to use the instrument cluster wiring for his tach, I'm saying an aftermarket tach is not necessary for a '96 truck. He can go to a junkyard, find a dashboard with a tach in it, pull the tach and fuel gauge module out and put them into his cluster and it will work.
