83 4.9/300. upgrades already done; cables, battery, plugs, wires, rotors, pads, 4 inch rough country lift, inner and outer tie rods, bearings all they way around, wheels, tires, custom drive shafts, brake booster, master cylinder, new clutch, and several others.

wandering what upgrades you would do for fuel efficiency and reliability? Doing burgeon steering shaft this week also already put in redhead gear box. Truck still has stock single barrel carb. Lets talk performance upgrades? No cheap parts on this truck

Your truck looks very good! As far as reliability and fuel efficiency goes, it is hard to beat the stock 300 six cylinder engine.

what size tires, 33 or 35's? Good looking truck. If you feel your carb needs changing out, I would go back with a brand new one. Is Weber the stock brand of the carb? I had to replace my fuel tank due to rust in it, so check that. I went ahead and replaced everything new on my fuel system and moved the fuel filter up under the hood between the fuel pump and carb, with just an inline clear filter. Just makes it easier to change and check.

Also a rebuild on those drum brakes in the rear might be a good idea, if you haven't already. I replaced my front calibers as well and brake lines. Can always upgrade that exhaust.

I am running 35's on it. Its a daily driver for the moment so I am somewhat satisfied with the look and stance of them. However when it goes back to a weekend toy it will probably be on at least 38's.

Don't really know much about carbs except its the stock single barrel. Didn't know if there was a more suitable upgrade considering theres a lot more out there then there was when the truck was manufactured? Forgot to list the fuel tank is new put it in 2012. Good recommendation about the rear drums. This is on the list. Also the truck has flow master duals. Heres a pic of that and the interior. Its a little dirty has gotten its weekly detail

I have to agree with 1986F150six: it is hard to beat the stock 300 six cylinder engine.

For reliability, I would keep the engine stock. Make sure your thermostatic hot air choke and thermostatic air cleaner is hooked up and working correctly, and run MOTORCRAFT plugs and wires, and a MOTORCRAFT ignition module. OEM Motorcraft parts are much better than any of the aftermarket junk out there. :)

For performance, I would go with the Offenhouser intake manifold and a Holley 390 CFM 4V carburetor along with 1987 and later EFI exhaust manifolds, Then, get your distributor re-curved to take advantage of the mods, as the stock ignition curve is set up for emissions and economy.

Looks like you need new door panels.
