New 2016 F250
 

Just traded in my 1999 f250 superduty 7.3,4x4, CCLB for a 2016 F250 6.2 CCLB, 4x4.
I got tired of the manual transmission. The truck was in excellent condition but figured it was time.
Does anybody have any negative experience with the rig like i have?
I do tow daily but it is not over 5,000lbs. I know fuel mileage will be less than the 7.3 but i think overall it balances out.
I opted for the factory extended warranty for 5 years or 100k miles.

Congratulations on your new truck. I ordered a 2106 F250 CCSB 4x4 and just got a call from my dealer this afternoon with my VIN number and said it would be built the first week of May. Can't wait to get it!

Mine was spur of the moment. I needed the truck today. I knew what i wanted though and my dealer got it from another dealer.

Have only had my 2016 F250XL SC since March and so far it is terrific. I got the 'wrench' and subsequently 'reduced power' about 100 miles out of Barstow on I-15 while pulling our trailer. The last 50+ miles was at 38mph going over the passes. Went to the Ford dealer the next day and he said my 2008 F250XLT Sport SC had a clogged oil cooler. The cost of repair would be $4500. That with less than 50K on it and having changed and checked the coolant for nitrites on a regular basis ended my relationship with a diesel! The new 6.2L tows just like the 6.4L diesel did and gets the same basic fuel mileage but I do not worry about dumping excess fuel into the oil and a myriad of other diesel concerns. Pulling the 8K trailer it gets about 9.5mpg. This truck is awesome in performance!

Good to hear that Henry, I debated for a long time between gas and diesel, then just couldn't justify the cost with my use. That and a friend of mine has two of them and experienced issues like you have.

Im amazed at the costs of new trucks. Honestly i dont think there worth it. It is a business vehicle for me. I dont know how average people would afford them.
I dont think ill miss my old truck.

Congratulations on the new truck. It will easily handle 5,000lbs. I did find the tow/haul mode to be a little aggressive on the lighter loads. You'll have to experiment locking gears out and using tow haul.

I've been there and read this all the time. The hardest thing to get used to is the worry and trouble free driving of the 6.2.

9.5 mpg while towing wow I laugh at that. I know my 6.0 Diesel gets more than that towing and I'm talking anywhere from 7k-10k it's getting 12-13 mpg. I could maybe get more out of her with some upgrades but you can have that gasser at 9.5 mpg towing.

I get 11.3 towing my 5th wheel at about 11,000#. I went over the grapevine outside of LA and the truck had no problem keeping the speedo at 60. I love my 6.7. I have 0 problems with the truck at 10,000 miles.

You should have kept that 7.3!

The 6.2L seems like a good fit for the F250. I have no complaints with mine. The difference between 9.5 & 11.3 mpgs is about 10 gallons (one way) of fuel on our annual Florida trip. It's not much of an argument to pick one over the other.
I'll take the new truck over the old truck any day, unless the old truck is a 55 Ford F100.

I went from a 2012 6.7 to a 2016 6.2 with no regrets. My 6.7 started acting up with 140k miles and I was with out warranty.ive had the 6.2 since December good 4 months so far. No torque or MPG like a 6.7 but it has plenty of power when needed. Im towing under 10k My boat is about 9500lbs and im doing about 8.5 mpg with the boat and 7.5 with my Travel trailer. I was doing about 12mpg with my 6.7. Not much of a diffrence. I can live with it and save the $9k in price diffrence.

I picked up my truck this afternoon. I like it!
Its a dark green metallic and in certain light looks black.
I like the comfort of the ride and feel of the truck. Plenty of power with i nice soft tone to the exhaust. It has all the options i would ever need and will take some getting use to compared to a 1999. My only complaint would be the fit and finish of the center console seat lids and latch...seems like it could be alittle better quality.
Im sure i will get over being without my 7.3!
