flareside tail light source?
hey guys I am on the hunt again for parts, man what a pita! anyways im trying to find some new tail light assemblies for my flareside. so far at carpenter and lmc truck they only have rightside assemblies. no lefts. carpenter doesn't even have them listed. ?????? has anyone else run into this? I don't know of anymore sources to try either. cant find a part number, rrrrgghh. any help would be great . thanks guys!

Greensales has them, but they are expensive. These are OEM. Many that you find in the after market do not have the side marker on them.

Tail lamps were available as complete assemblies, but Ford also sold the individual parts by themselves (see parts catalog pic).
1980/87 F100/150 Flareside used the same tail lamps as 1980/91 F250 Cab & Chassis. The right & left tail lamps LENSES are the same, also same as 1977/79 Flaresides. D7TZ-13450-A .. Right & Left Tail Lamp Lenses / Obsolete Over 1,000 (!) available NOS from multiple sources. ----------------------------------------------------------- EOTZ-13404-B .. Right Tail Lamp Assy / Obsolete NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746. NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has 2 = 972-937-2201. GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 4 = 800-543-4959. CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 89 = 800-476-9653. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EOTZ-13405-B .. Left Tail Lamp Assy / Obsolete No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. |
Thanks guys. I'm waiting on nos parts in ks to get back with me but everyone else listed doesn't have any. It seems like every part I try to track down I run into this .errgghh.
Bcamill , thanks for the heads up about Oem vs. aftermarket parts, I was wondering about that. Number dummy, so you are saying the older LENSES are the same but not the HOUSINGS right? Do you know what the differences are? I may have found some but the claim to be for 77 through 87. I'm a little suspicious if they are right. |
Would this work for you?
Torsion Mount® Two-Stud Stop Tail Turn Light w/ Side Marker & Molded Pigtail Termination Product Family - Grote Industries I do have a set of cheap boat trailer lights but they do look cheap. Think when it comes time for mounting the bed with lights I may go with the above set. Dave ---- |
FuzzFace2 has a great link. Ebay has them for 34.15, plus 7 for shipping. I would order those as they have the side marker. Looks great.

I like Grote lights as I have them on my car trailer and they are used on a lot of trucks too.
They also come in a 3 bolt side marker also. I just thought the stock brackets used 2 bolts but don't know as I don't have them either. Dave ---- |

Dave ---- ill have to look in the morning but im pretty sure mine are 3 bolt and the way that bracket is shaped it will interfere with where the wires exit the light. but the 3 bolt lights don't have the right pigtail. I know wires can be spliced but im trying to avoid that if I can. am I missing something? thanks a bunch! |
Like most parts for any make car or truck the manf. does not make most of them, they are out sourced.
So the tail lights could have been made by Grote for Ford. On the site if you look at other tail lights they list who used that light. They only list 2 lights with side marker Dave ---- |

CARPENTER has 89 of the right side lamps, but these are not listed in his catalog because they are NOS (New Old Stock). When you call, you have to tell the idiot who answers the phone that these are listed on partsvoice.com and/or rearcounter.com This is why I list it as CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS |

The look nice but I have to get the Cheby connectors off and the ford ones on. Does anyone know where to get the grommets for where the taillight wires go through the body? They look like they just slip off of the conduit but I haven't been able to budge mine. Thanks guys! |
Wiring?

I don't know 100% but a guess B/U light.
You would have 2 wires for tail & turn so you have to have a 3rd for B/U. But the body? is listed as "Material: Polycarbonate/Acrylic" so who knows? But still think the 3 wires are supply to lights and inside the light housing the sockets are grounded thru the mounting studs. Kind of how the cheap boat trailer light kits are built with plastic housings. Dave ---- |

Thanks guys! to go from grommet (pushed inside grommet) up to the lights. I want to say I seen the flex thru LMC or Carpenter when looking over the sites. Maybe one of the parts stores would have the flex and no not the split loom stuff. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=156 Dave ---- |
