Plug wire and bracket set
 

Have any of you bought the Yblock plug wire and bracket set from Carpenter or Mid West Early Ford? BTW, Mid Fifty doesn't sell them any more. Carpenter and Mid West want $45 for the set. There is a set on eBay for 34.95. Do you think Carpenters are of a better quality than the eBay set or do you think they all come from the same supplier?

I want to detail my engine finally and will need these.

Abe, lots of people sell the brackets, but there's probably one company that they get them from. Somebody offers or licenses the entire kit itself, I think it may be Dennis Carpenter but I'm not certain. There's a T bird parts vendor that has concours in their name, looking through the PDF catalog the other day led me to think it was those guys for some reason.

I bought the rubber inserts from Mac's and they worked fine. Seem like good quality. But the whole kit would save money and hassle rounding it all together. Wish I would have known about the T Bird folks earlier.

Have you got any pictures of how the spark plug looms mount? OBTW abe I just bought the rubbers and if I had it to do over again I think I'd buy the kit.

I bought a whole kit from Concours Parts in Carson City a few years back. They were nice, looked high quality, and the wires were the "FoMoCo" script type.

Sorry, just noticed this post. If ya need pics, let me know. If you want 'em to look spiffy, start from one end and cut to length. Measure twice, cut once!

I bought the kit or individual parts from MACs auto parts. The wires did not have the 90 degree ends because I bought the wrong ones perhaps?

Yep. The cap is installed 180 degrees out, too ha ha don't try to use it as a guide too close.

Got them in like the above diagram. The first loom on the drivers side hit my Flat-O Bellhousing but with a little bending it fit. This will solve my access issue when I install my transmission kickdown linkage.:-drink

When he sold it, he then moved to NV then several years later opened this business.

Thanks ND, that's righteous. Looks like the weights are tough B7A-12188-A ; found a source they want $12 a pop, at least they have them. What happens is the round pin that rides in the reluctor marked "H" here, they are hard steel but eventually wear badly and cause erratic advance.
