6.2 Ford vs GM 6.2

Where do we stand.....how does our engine measure up. I didn't buy my truck to be a hot rod. I do want it to be strong, dependable and given proper maintenance last forever.

We stand on top :o F-series has dominated for over 3 decades. It's such a break away lead, that it reflects in the quality of everything. The spec numbers are second to the build quality, I'd say.

the newer version of 6.2 GM engine puts out 420hp/460tq. on 93 octane. I'd compare that to our old raptor 6.2 spec, also 93 octane, of 411hp/434tq. And the 2017 SD will get a power upgrade to the 6.2. wich will STILL push 87 octane, but the numbers will be up, so We'll see. But I'd guess, that Our new 2017 6.2(whatever the specs turn out to be), with a 93 octane tune, would prob beat their current spec.

Ford doesn't offer the 6.2l in the current F-150 and GM only offers the 6.2l in the 1500.

So basically for a current truck you have to compare the 16' F250 to the 16' 2500HD. The 2500 is available with the 6.0l only and is rated at 360 hp @ 5400 rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque @ 4200 rpm. The 6.2l in the F-250 is rated at 385hp @ 5500 rpm and 405tq @ 4500 rpm. The F-350 6.2l shows different ratings but it is the exact engine as the F-350, they just posted the numbers at a lower rpm instead of peak.

And the 1500 6.2 Silverado has a weaker tranny than the 6.0 2500
