1995 7.5 460 blowing my mind
Ok I have a 1995 f350 4x4 5 speed 460 with 191xxx, I was driving truck home check engine light came on.
Started running super super super rich to the point of blowing black smoke. I can not pull codes it won't let me code reader won't. Paper clip truck dose nothing. Have 5volts at little plug. Grounded it and still no flash on dash. So I did the stupid thing but only thing I could do at this point I replaced Plugs wires, TPS,ECT, Air temp sensor, FPR, idle air control, O2 Cleaned air filter. Cleaned throttle body checked everything I can think of still studders at idle. Like its cammed the black smoke has cut down but still present. The truck almost acts like it's missing. I don't know were to go now I have no vacume leaks that I can find. I need to pull codes and I can't I think I have read just about every forum I can find the power point has power everything is right just won't let me see codes please help I need this fixed. |
Disconnect the battery and remove your PCM, I bet you will find blown capacitors and that usually means you need a new PCM.
|
I will add the fuel pumps both run non stop
|
If I do need a new pcm. Will one out of auto work or must it be for a 5 speed also like mine truck has power widows dose that matter to the pcm?
|
The PCM does not care about the windows.
One out of a truck with an computer controlled automatic transmission would leave the MIL (CEL) lit all the time. You might get by if the donor truck had a C6 transmission and it needs to have the same secondary air system. Also it must be from a 7.5L truck. |
What about 4x4 mines is I can get one from a 94 with e40d. 460. If Ian correct it will just throw cel light
|
The PCM does not care if it is a 4X4 or not.
Yes the CEL (MIL) will be lit if it is from a truck with a E4OD and your truck has a standard transmission. |
What all years will work with mine
|
The only years would be 1994-1997 non California that had a standard transmission and a 7.5L engine.
