So I just bought this truck-

I just bought this truck yesterday:

The guy I got it from wants the front clip swapped over to his other truck, so it will be getting this front clip off my 69:

It's hard to see in the pic, but the fenders are tan with the hood a grayish color, almost like a darkened wimbledon white.
The real question now is who the hell leaked my build's color scheme to Gary Brookins?

That's funny, have fun

Are you going to be using the new trucks cab for your build? That's a great comic I never seen that before.

Ford_Six 03-13-2016 08:23 PM

I am using the cab and bed, dropping them on an 85 Supercab chassis and filling in the gap with more cab. It'll be sweet. Also will be running a 7.3 IDI with turbo and five speed.

I like the fact the he's using a paint brush and a gallon can of paint. I have seen people paint their cars with a roller before. But they didn't know which end of a screwdriver to use either.

Ford_Six 03-14-2016 04:32 PM

I have seen acceptable roller paint jobs, you thin rustoleum 50-50 and use a solid foam roller, about ten coats and wet sand it for a smooth finish. Someone took a brush to my tractor, though, and it would have looked better in the stock Yanmar green.

The roller job that I'm talking about was with a 3/8" nap roller. I think the lunar surface is smoother.

There is a 76 F350 ex-uhaul truck in Kent that I worked on. It came in with an oddly orange peeled cream colored paint job. I popped the hood, checked it out (oil was six quarts low), and closed the hood. My hands were clean, but I left a giant print on the thing, it was painted with interior flat latex paint. It looked ok until it was touched, I'm sure it looks horrific now.

Holy Smokes! SIX qt low? I bet that was a hot running engine!! Driver must have had the radio up high to drown out that rattling and banging noise.

My ex (wife 5.0) bought a Chevy camero Berlinetta new (79 or 80) after I moved in (94), I decided to change the oil. Removed the plug and there was this tar so thick in the bottom of the pan that I used an awl to let the oil out. When I asked her "when did you get that oil changed last?" "Never" was the reply. The engine lasted 12 more days. I ordered another V-6 long block. When it was all done, I told her to bleach her hair and I moved out.

I really get a kick out of watching builds, but I'm really cooking up the popcorn for this one Jared. Your formula is so different I can't wait. :-X22 Like waiting for the next Time life WWII book to hit the mailbox.:D
