Not clear what he was going for... not a 4x4 (at least it doesn't say so), but otherwise set up for the dirt? |
The front snout of that chassis reminded me of a dirt late model, but then I realized he kept the full original frame under it. I have to admit that I kind of like it. He obviously had a goal in mind, and it doesn't look like a complete death trap to drive. It kind of looks like one of those off-road stadium style trucks like they used to race in the Mickey Thompson series.

I'm not so sure it is the full stock frame. There's a lot of funky shape and dipping/drooping ahead of the axle centerline that doesn't appear original...

I wonder what's up with the fan motor sticking thru the firewall? From the position of the heater hoses, I'd guess it has some late-model heating unit installed.
|
Looks like it's built to be a "pre-runner". Could be an interesting show and play truck.
|
Yep, kind of looks like a pre-runner/jump truck. A lot of young guys out here in the desert build stuff like this. I usually see small Fords or Toyota though.

The ones I usually see are 2wd with just the bed sides, a spool or locker, flexy springs, lots of shocks, lots of power and cages. Usually higher in the front and lots of suspension droop.
|
Pre-runners are almost always 2wd. Very long travel suspensions. As said, lots of shocks. Total enclosure roll cages. Big wide tires to float on top of the sand.
I really think that's exactly what this is. |
Hmm
Interesting. Looks like it might be fun to go thrash around the desert in. Bobby |
