PS: I found the dots that go between the F and the 100. In a box of stuff my body man had extra nuts, bolts, and screws. They were wrapped up in tape and you couldn't see what they were.

The boards were a shade off. So I took the can of paint and the painted ebd strip to the paint store lady. She matched it pretty well. To make sure the the last coat was dry I sat the boards out in the sun. Some of them bubbled up so I let them cure all day. Oil base takes a while to dry thoroughly. So I will try to paint tomorrow.

So today I painted mirror arms, the backs of the mirrors, the mirror bracket that goes in the door, and all the hardware. I adjusted the cowl vent so it won't hit the back of the hood.

A good day. Hopefully paint tomorrow.

Glad you found the dots.

Anxiously awaiting the pics to see your progress (or it didn't happen). }>

OK, Joe (and others), here are the pics to show that I am doing some work on the truck!

A couple of the bed boards drying after the 3rd coat of paint. The paint store added some yellow to match the color of the truck better. what do you think?

I painted the gas cap and shined up the filler tube gasket.

Put in a new plug or grommet in that hole in the floor.

Put the seat tracks in to be ready for the seat when it is done.

And I had to repaint all the bolts and washers with the new shade of green.

So you are working a little. Those pictures will hold us over for a few minutes. :)
The bed boards look like an exact match on my computer screen. Looking good.

Abe, I hope you don't have a cat come strolling through the garage and decide to jump up and investigate your work. :D

The bed boards look like a perfect match to me... from here...

Nice work, as proven by the uploaded pics. :-X03

A good looking match. Did you paint the bolts and washers by hand or spray?
Great perseverance, and persistence

I brushed them with the oil base paint I painted the bed boards with.

Update Ąpril 1: today I attached the rubber dust thingy that goes between the cab and the running boards. I put the insulating stuff back on the floor of my cab, not new, same stuff I had in before, fibrous on one side aluminum foil on the other. Then I put my mat back in. Cab is a string to look nice. Just waiting on the seat. I took some mirror arms to a guy that will polish the shiny extension part and media blast and paint the black parts.

That is all i got done today since I had to go mow the 12 acres of grass that the soccer club I founded 30 years ago owns.

No pictures, you'll have to take my word on it.

Update 4/7/16:

Still waiting for my seat to come back from the upholsterer. So I am doing some other smaller things.

Earlier I had repainted the back of my stock mirrors. I repainted the stock mirror arms and associated brackets. I started to cleanup the stainless or chromed part of the arm that goes into the lower painted tube and the big washer and bolt. I thought "why not get it polished right." I saw a local metal polisher guy at our favorite restaurant. He said he could do them. He polished them and then clear coated them. I met him at the restaurant the next time we had lunch there and I got them back on Wed, at the restaurant.

I put them on tonight. Pics here:

Other things I have to do yet are put weather stripping on the doors (the hollow kind, I took off the solid kind), get two windows cut and put in place, and put the bed boards in place. Waiting for nicer weather.

Your truck looks really nice. I admire you for painting the bed boards. (I had intended to go solid stock with my own truck, but I chickened out and went with tung oiled wood with painted metal.) I love the mirrors. Question: I bought door weatherstripping from Mid Fifty; it's a solid molded soft foam. You said that you are going with hollow weatherstrip. Where does that come from? Is it still the stock molded cross-section with the large moldings at the bottom corners, or a multi-use aftermarket product? Also, question about paint color: Looking at the surviving paint I find on my own truck I see that some interior parts such as the seat frame, the dome light frame, and maybe the metal instrument cluster frame were painted a sort of champagne color. From the photos, it looks like you found and used that color on your seat track. What is that color? Once again, your truck looks great.

Thanks for the nice words.
Weatherstripping: I bought mine from Mid Fifty. They sell three kinds, solid, like original, hollow, shaped like original, and genetics multi use round rubber. In 1999 I bought original style weatherstripping from Steele Products. My body man ripped it off saying that is why my doors didn't fit tight at the bottom. We will see if the hollow makes a difference.

Paint color: the interior trim is painted an argent (silver) color. In 1999 I took off the glove box hinge and the ash tray bracket and underneath where no sun or moisture could get to it. Duplicolor makes an argent that matches the the trim color almost perfectly. I used it on all metal trim in the cab I cluding the grille of my heater.

I wouldn't say going with tung oiled wood and painted bed strips is chickening out! What color is your truck? Pictures please!
