OEM 7 way trailer connector?

Well, it seems the cover on my trailer connector got broken off. The cover locks the trailer plug into the truck side. The connector on the truck is/was supplied by Ford. Now the dealer say NLA, only 2005 and up. Truck is 99 F250 SD. Plug is 4/7 way. Where can I locate a direct plug-in replacement? I do not want to be cutting and splicing.
Thanks

I have a 99 f250 sd, mine was a rats nest when I bought the truck. Bought a new harness and plug here, simply removed the old and replaced. No special wiring or anything.

I replaced mine in 2014 from Ford. Try a different dealer or see about online from horizonpartsguy.com or Auto Nation white bear lake.

I think I will just trade in my 99 for the F650 pictured at the bottom of the horizonpartsguy page. :)

I am figuring to order this, as it is similar to what I have on the truck now. Did your truck come from the factory with the "Tow Package" ? I want to make sure it is a direct plug-in. Mine did come with factory tow package, and has a separate pigtail at the back to plug in the 4 flat and 7 round connector.

Mine is a 99 F250 XLT V10 with tow package and 4x4. Did not come with offroad package. What is the date on your door tag on the driver pillar? Mine is after March of 99.

If you don't know call the local dealer with VIN and ask for the build date.

The harness I purchased was a plug and play deal, has a factory gray plug behind the bumper somewhere and the 7/4 are next too each other.

I called the Ford dealer in Minnesota and paid 128 plus shipping. Should be direct plugin. My build date was 2-25-98.
The original connector I removed had "Hoppy" on the door, but Hopkins does not have the connector available. I also discovered it has 6 wires at the truck, and 7 at the trailer side. No center wire connection. The new one has 7 at each end.

Very cool, take a picture when you install please. I wonder if the build date mattered or not.

In my research, I was looking at my Ford factory service dvd. I found on the wiring page, it shows the connector (truck side) as 13A576. Interesting that it is almost the same as the part number YC3Z-13A576-CA, for the harness.

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring C55243

I attempted to purchase this from etrailer and got a bait & switch runaround. They let me order it then emailed me to tell me it was out of stock and offered to sell me one almost $20 higher. No offer of consideration for expedited shipping, price match on the higher part, nothing. Will definitely not shop that site anymore. Phone techs were clueless, did not understand what the "universal 7 pin blade connector" was, etc. Reading from their script is all they know.
Then I found it cheaper and in stock on ebay.
Left me with a bad enough impression of them I felt the need to warn others.

Yeah, etrailer.com got me as well with their price-matching. In really tiny print, it's "price + shipping", so they pretty much don't have to do it.

Njstern87 02-15-2016 09:02 PM

Sorry to hear that. Mine was shipped same day, got it home and it plugged right in. With all drop shipping companies cust service seems to be lacking.

I ordered the Ford part from Auto Nation Ford in Minnesota. Ordered Tuesday afternoon, postman brought to my door on Saturday. It was $138 with shipping. Local dealer wanted $195, so was a no brainer to wait for shipping. Has the flat 4 and the 7 round RV style connector just like the original. I am waiting until tomorrow when the weather stops crapping on us here on the East Coast, lol. I am going to weld a new bracket on my hitch to attach the plug to.
