Drip leak on the drivers side. Updated question 12/5 on page 2.
It is still a drip, but is getting worse, for several weeks.
May be power steering fluid. I have not found the source. I think it is after the truck has run and has fluids operating under pressure. |
I've got the exact thing going on. Looks like the trail leads to atf from P steering.
It's a small drip after the truck is warm and shut down. Fluids seem up but I can't find the end of the trail at the origin...YET. I'm going to dive into it in the next few days and I'll post my finding. Denny |
Look at the fitting for the pressure line coming out of the pump - these are reaching their age limit right about now. I know of a few that failed (including my own), and the drip was substantial - park the truck in 5 seconds substantial.

Thanx Rich, looks like the end product is dripping off the drag link. From there, on the canopy wall off the cradle. Above that I can't rely on a path but from what your describing, the location may very well be on the inside of the pump behind the pulley and slightly aft.
Would that bring CSI in to pull the pump to R and R the hose? Denny |
BTW, pressure line is on the right while sitting in the truck correct?

I suspect it is the PS pressure line. I want it resolved.
I checked Oreilly. Which version of the line do you suppose it is? |
check your oil cooler, mine just started leaking and i thought it was the PS but it was not.

I got mine at the Ford dealer. I don't mess around with critical stuff like brakes and steering.

I've got two daughters and I'm too old to untangle their pigtails when they get into it.
Here's what I found. My oil cooler is leaking on the forward end. Just per chance a very good friend of mine that works commercially pulled me around and said this needs attention and that.....etc... Then he asked me what oil I ran. I told him T6 Rotella synthetic. He put a chew in, shrugged his shoulders and walked away while saying under his breath, (that's your problem). I'm thinking it's good but maybe not now. Killed my romps here up north, but is it eating my seals? Denny |
Synthetic just gets into little spaces better, so your injectors love it and your oil cooler dribbles. The oil cooler seals are just hard and old. Mine drips a bit on the rare sub freezing days here, running Delo dino. I ran synthetic in my 215k Aerostar once, drips abounded. Dino oil, same spec, no drips.
I went with the Irish on the PS pressure line, simply for expediency. No worries. Also check if it is rubbing on the shock tower, that can cause a leak too. |
