SPX, Riffraff, Barder and others turbo wheel review thread

(I edit this post since theres no real thread dedicated to turbo wheels for our stock turbos, and can also be used as reference to any member wanting a honest review:-X22 )

Ps. Pictures are a must:-X03

Well guys as you know I bought the spx wheel and got it today, and boy the fins look aggressive:eek: it has the five blade design as the obs wheel but looks insanly good, and they weren't joking about weight this thing is light.
Heres some pics from left to right starting with the obs wheel followed by the spx then the sd wheel

I have an obs so it might differ from you sd guys but in the end will see if the claimed spx wheel can deliver the 4lbs to 6lbs increase in boost.

When are you planning to install it? I ordered the rebuild kit from SP today and would like to know your thoughts on the wheel before ordering the 4/4 from RiffRaff along with the other parts I plan to order from RiffRaff.

Not much of an update but did manage to speak directly with Kevin owner of SPTurboost, nice guy and answer to all my questions, customer service is far more than I expected even answered my call thanksgiving day:-X22. If that is not customer service I don't know what is and he stands behind his product 100% any questions contact him.

As for those that wanted a review will have to wait till next week when I rebuild another sd turbo and hopefully swap out my obs one out for the sd one:-jammin

Does anyone know the real scoop on these billet wheels? I am having a hard time believing that riffraff, sp, bd, dieselsite, etc. Are investing the money in 5 axis machining centers indivually then the r&d costs associated with 4/4, 5/5, 7/7 etc.

It seems allot more likely to me there is one manufacturer making these, with different options.

I guess my question will be who all will spring for the wheel from the lowest priced vendor or the newest on the block.

I ended up purchasing a RR 4/4 wheel late on Tuesday along with several other parts in order to get ready for my Christmas break truck upgrade.

Keep us posted on your thoughts on the SPX wheel, I am sure you will be happy with it.

I was pretty impressed myself when I spoke to him prior to my buy. Kit went together great. You can see more of my turbo build on the Excursion Forum under " Turbo Porn"

That's an aggressive looking wheel, it will be interesting to see how it works.

The first wheel the 5blade one got destroyed after an employee thought it was funny to stick a pen in while I had it running without the intake tube. The other turbo blade was from a spare turbo I had laying around used it as reference only:-X22

Here's why I ground off the Garrett on the side. Wanted something different. Was going to go a little more traditional, but came up with this idea I made.

Looks nice man:-jammin
You should leave your review on this thread, since more 7.3 owners are looking more info and reviews on this wheel here than the X section, by the looks of it you'll be done first than me:-X22 and be the official guinea pig:-drink
