Bought a 1956 and got a lot of questions - Lot of pictures ;-)
Hey everybody.
First of all I would like to introduce myself. My Name is Daniel. I'm from Germany and I'm 38 Years old. During the last 20 Years, I restored some old German cars and motorcycles. Finally: In the beginning of this year I bought my first F100 . I like to inform you about the progress of my restauration and I guess I'll have a lot ofquestions. My F100 is an ’56 from mojave desert and has got an unidentified frontclip modification. The engine is probably a 1976 Ford 351M with a C9?! Transmission. Maybe someone can give me a hint what car the frontclip, engine, tranny and rear axlecomes from? Bolt circle is probably 5x4,5. Pictures below . Sorry for my bad English. Kindregards - Daniel |

Congratulations on your new project. We can look at your pictures and try to give you an idea of what you have when you post them. If you have a 351M and C6 transmission, it likely came from a Torino or LTD, medium or full size cars built in the mid 70's. There's no real way to tell by looking the exact application it came from. They are pretty much all the same. The 351M was used from 1975-79 in those models. We look forward to seeing your pictures. :-X22 |

You picked the right model to rebuild; virtually every part from multiple vendors is available for this era Ford truck. Shipping to Europe may be expensive. There are many options from which to choose. I assume you want to keep your current drivetrain. However, there are a number of suspension and customized parts to allow you to build the truck of your dreams. Viel Glück |

The rear axle is a Ford 9" rear end. Does it have a metal tag under one of the third member nuts. If so you'll be able to decode what your axle is from. You'll need that info to work on you axles & brakes. Does it have the stock steering column? Automatic transmission would be FMX Cast Iron housing, C4 (has a bolt on bellhousing) or C6 (one piece housing). Both have bolt on tail shafts for different applications. I'd bet the whole car was a 80s rebuild so it's a good bet the engine is a popular small block 302, 351W, 351C, or 351/400M. Need a couple better pictures of the engine to help you out. It will really help to Identify all the "extras" (we should be able to help) before you start working on your F100. Enjoy the journey.:-jammin |
No I don't think its chevy or any GM car. I'm not an expert but I did work at a chevy only salvage yard for 25 years. (But its been 15 years since then)

Yes I see what you mean Chevys had bolts holding the upper control arms with shims for alingment. Your's seem to have slotted holes. My Bad. May be all :oval

Calipers and rotors look wrong for 70's GM. The calipers and pads might be the easiest way to narrow it down some. At least to a range of applications and go from there. My guess is early 70's Ford. Torino, LTD or similar.

Looks like a Ford frt end to me. Gm used shimmed upper control arm set up. Yours is a slotted type. I don't like the welded idler arm. Good luck.:-X22

Would that front suspension be like from a Ford Granada, the lower control arm looks very much Ford as it reminds me of the Mustang/ Pinto design.
