Ford backup camera cable extension?

Hey everyone, Ive combed over the internet but I cant seem to find anything like this... I'm putting a service canopy on the back of my 2015 F350 and I'm required to remove the tailgate in order to do this.. I'm considering removing the :oval emblem and built in camera to the top of the Canopy rear bay doors so I can continue to Rep the logo and have the luxury of the rear camera. My only problem here is that the wires that are currently on the truck will not reach to the top of that canopy

Is there some kind of Extension cord available for the ford OEM camera?

I know of NO extension cable for any of the Super Duty tailgate cameras. I did buy a 2015 tail gate camera harness for about $15.00 and then extended it with some shielded wire.

Are the wires not A/V or anything fancy?

Just Strokin 11-05-2015 08:34 PM

no, nothing fancy. just shielded to help with interference.

did you just use butt connectors ? Do you know what gauge?

I would solder the connections to avoid issues of corrosion and the bulkiness of the butt connectors. I believe the wire size is like 20 or slightly smaller.
